■ Use of a metal tray during microwavecooking will result in inferior cookingperformance.

■ If you are not sure if a dish is microwave-safe, use this test:Place both the dishyou are testing and aglass measuring cupfilled with 1 cup ofwater in the oven. Set the measuring cupeither in or next to the dish. Microwave30-45 seconds at high. If the dish heats,it should not be used for microwaving.

If the dish remains cool and only thewater in the cup heats, then the dish is microwave-safe.

When cooking withcontainers tightly covered with plasticwrap, remove covering carefully anddirect steam away from hands and face.

■ Plastic cookware—Plastic cookwaredesigned for microwave cooking is veryuseful, but should be used carefully. Evenmicrowave-safe plastic may not be astolerant of overcooking conditions as are glass or ceramic materials. Plasticmay soften or char if subjected to shortperiods of overcooking. Cooking Tips for ConvectionBaking

ConvectionBaking

Convection baking allows you to cook foods thesame way as a conventional oven, using aheating element to raise the temperature of theair inside the oven. Any oven temperature from250°F to 450°F may be set.A fan gently circulates heated air throughout theoven, over and around the food. Because theheated air is kept constantly moving, notpermitting a layer of cooler air to develop aroundthe food, some foods cook slightly faster than inregular oven cooking. Before you begin, make sure the turntable is inplace. Use the metal tray at all times when singleor two-level baking.

CAUTION! When baking, remember that theoven, door and dishes will be very hot!

The turntable must always bein place when using the oven.

Put food or oven-safe cookwaredirectly on the metal tray.

Put food directly on the metal tray or in theappropriate dish and place on wire oven rack

The sensor feature detects theincreasing humidity released duringcooking. The oven automatically adjuststhe cooking time to various types andamounts of food.

Do not use the sensor features twice insuccession on the same food portion—it may result in severely overcooked orburnt food. If food is undercooked after the first countdown, use COOK BY TIMEfor additional cooking time.

The proper containers and covers areessential for best sensor cooking.

■ Always use microwave-safecontainers and cover them with lidsor vented plastic wrap. Never use tight sealing plasticcontainers—they can prevent steam from escaping and causefood to overcook.

■ Be sure the outside of the cookingcontainers and the inside of theoven are dry before placing food in the oven. Beads of moistureturning into steam can mislead the sensor.
