Elfun Myth Elfun Myth Busters:Busters:ELFU

NMyth: Must have a certain status at

the company (career band, pay-level) to join

FACT: This used to be an entry requirement along with a nomination process. Today, Elfun is open to all GE employees, both active or retired, across all businesses regardless of band or level.

Myth Members must contribute a certain number of volunteer hours.

FACT: This requirement was abandoned prior to the GE Volunteers / Elfun split in 2005. Today, all GE Volunteer efforts are coordinated through the GE Volunteers organization, not through GE Elfun.

Myth: Elfun = GE Volunteers

FACT: Effective 7/1/05, there is only one GE Volunteer organization for the company which includes all affinity and networking groups such as AAF, APAF, Elfun, GESNA, GEWN, GLBT, HF, etc.

Myth: Inactive Elfuns must continue paying dues to receive health and medical benefits.

FACT: Elfun members who were qualified for Elfun health and medical benefits at the 2005 split remain qualified for previous benefits regardless of dues payment. Annual Membership dues of $25 qualifies members as Active for benefits list on this flyer and any new benefits obtained.

Why Join Elfuns?

WHAT: An organization of GE employees and retirees committed to helping each other, building the spirit of the “GE family” and remaining active as achievers, leaders and peer-to-peer mentors.WHO: An umbrella organization for area GE employees who span different local GE businesses, GE related affinity & networking groups, as well as across all bands and ranks of employment. HOW: By fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie, social involvement, and charitable activism while providing members with certain benefits unavailable through any other organization.

Elfun’s have the ability to bring all other GE networking and affinity groups together by promoting that we are GE people first, then members of specific organizations. We do not distinguish, but rather encourage connections as we promote that we are one GE family, while holding our social events, activities, supporting GE Volunteers efforts, etc.

Greater Cincinnati Elfun members span across different local business (such as Home & Business, Money, Aviation, Energy, Aviation Systems, and Healthcare), between different employee groups, and consist of retirees, active employees, and family members.

Elfuns are the “Original” affinity and networking group and are focused on bringing value to the company and our members in fun and exciting ways by connecting with other GE employees through a broad spectrum of opportunities and activities.
