Before Operating the Dishwasher the First Time

Attach the faucet adapter. The special faucet adapter supplied with your dishwasher must beassembled to the sink faucet before you can use your dishwasheE

The faucet adapter is designed to fit standard spouts having internal or external threads. Youwill findthe adopter and two washers in the faucet adapter packet in your dishwashe_

To install faucet adapter, first remove the old aerator or trim ring on your faucet spout.

If faucet has external threads: Insert the thinner of the two washers into the faucet adapter andattach it to the faucet spout.

Tighten with pliers.

If faucet has internal threads: Insert both of the washers into the faucet adapter and attach it tothe faucet spout.

Tighten with pliers.

If the faucet adapter threads do not match your faucet spout, your local hardware or plumbingsupply store normally has additional fittings to adapt your faucet spout to the special faucetadapter.

NOTE:A sink spray attachment hose can burst if it is installed on the same sinkwith your dishwashe_Wesuggest that _lOUdisconnect the sink sprawlattachment if _loursinkhas oneand plug the hole.

How to Connect the Unicouple

Run the hot water faucet to purge coldwater from the hot water line.The hot watermust be between 120°Fand 150°Ffor bestwash performance.

Pull Unicoupleand its hoses completely out................from storage compartment ocated at rear

of dishwasher.

Attach the Unicouple connector to the..................faucet adapter by depressing the co ar at

the top of the connector.When Unicouple isall the way up onto the adapter, releasethecollar. It will then snap into position to lockthe Unicouple in place.

The Unicouple'ssmall hose carries waterfrom the faucet to the dishwasher. Its largehose carries drain water to the sink. BesureUnicouple is pointing toward the sink bowldrain opening and the sink drain is open forwater that will drain from your dishwasher.If your dishwasher drains into a disposer,operate the disposer until it is completelyempty before starting the dishwasher.

Turn hot water fully on before starting thedishwasher.

How to Disconnect the Dishwasher

Unplug the dishwasher.

Release the Unicouple from the faucet by.....................depressing the collar at the top of the

Unicouple connector.

Drain excesswater from the unicouple hoses.................(seebelow). Pushthe hoses back into their

storage location.

A C, AUTION; To protect yourself andthe room from severesplashing, relievewaterpressureprior to disconnecting the unicouple.

How to Drain Excess Water From Unicouple Hoses

If the sink is 34" or higher from the floor, the excesswater in Unicouple hosescannot be draineddirectly into the sink. It will be necessary to drain excesswater from hosesinto a bowl or suitablecontainer that is held outside and lower than the sink.

Using the dishwasher

Check the Water TemperatureThe entering water must be at least 120°Fandnot more than 150°F,for effective cleaning and toprevent dish damage. Checkthe water temperaturewith a candy or meat thermometeE Turn on thehot water faucet nearest the dishwasher,placethe thermometer in a glass and let the water

run continuouslu into the glassuntil the temperaturestops rising.

Adjust the maximum/minimum temperature of thewater heater if necessary to deliver water at theproper temperature.

UseJet-Dry®RinseAgent

Jet-Dry _or Cascade Crystal Clear_ rinse agents remove spots and prevent new film buildup on dishes,glasses,flatware, cookware and plastic.

Filling the DispenserFillthe rinse agent dispenser until it reaches the bottom oflip inside the opening. Replacecap.

To check if rinse agent is needed, remove the cap and lookinto the dispenseE

A full dispensershould last about one month.

Proper Useof Detergent

Useonlu detergent specificallu made for use indishwashers. Cascade®and Electrasol®AutomaticDishwashing Detergents have been approved for usein all GEdishwashers. Keepuour detergent fresh anddry. Don't put powder detergent into the dispenseruntil Uou'reready to wash dishes.

The amount of detergent to use depends on whetheryour water is hard or soft. With hard water, you needextra detergent. With soft water, you need lessdetergent.

Protect your dishes and dishwasher by contactingyour water department and asking how hard yourwater is.Twelve or more grains is extremely hardwateEA water softener is recommended. Without it,lime can build up in the water valve,which couldstick while open and cause flooding. Too muchdetergent with soft water can cause a permanentcloudiness of glassware,called etching.

Usethe information in the table below as a guidelineto determine the amount of automatic dishwasherdetergent to place in the dispenseE

Besure the Dial is OFF before adding detergent.Otherwise, the detergent cup will not close and latchproperly.Add detergent then close the main cup.

Becauseso manu detergent containers look alike,storethe dishwasher detergent in a separate spacefrom all other cleaners. Show anuone who may usethe dishwasher the correct detergent and where itis stored.

While there will be no lasting damage to thedishwasher,uour disheswill not get clean usinga dishwashing detergent that is not formulatedto work with dishwashers.

Upper Rack

The upper rack is for glasses,cups andsaucers.Cupsand glasses fit best alongthe sides.This is also a secure place fordishwasher-safe plastics.The upper rack isgood for all kindsof odd-shaped utensils.Saucepans, mixing bowls and other itemsshould be placed face down.

Securelarger dishwasher-safeplasticsovertwo fingers when possible.

Makesure small plastic items are securesothey can't fall onto the heating element.

Lower Rack

When loading the lower rack, do not loadlargeplatters or trablsin the front rightcareenTheblmoblprevent detergent fromcirculating during the wash chicle.

The lower rack is best used for plates,saucers and cookware. Largeitems such asbroiler pans and racks should go along thesides.Load platters, pots and bowls alongthe sides, in corners or in the back. Thesoiled side of items should face the centerof the rack.

Wash Tower

Keepthe center areaclear in the lowerrack.

The wash tower risesthrough thecenter of the lower rack during thewash and rinse portions of the cgcle.

Don't blockthe washtower or load tall thingsnext to it.

Be sure items don't fallthrough rack and blockrotation of the sprag arm.

Also,be careful not tolet a portion of an itemsuch as a pot or dishhandle extend throughthe bottom rack. Thiscould block the washarm and causepoorwashing results.

Silverware Basket

Put flatware in the removable basket withfork and knife handles up to protect gourhands. Placespoons inthe basket withhandles down. Mix knives, forks and spoonsso theg don't nest together Distributeevenlg.Small plastic items, such asmeasuring spoons and lids from smallcontainers, should go in the bottom of thesilverware basket with silverware on top.
