Professional Body Recognition

Many who qualify as Accounting Technicians go on to continue their studies, using their qualification as a stepping stone to eventually becoming professional accountants and members of one of the other accounting bodies, opening them up to greater opportunities for careers in accountancy Accounting Technicians can work on their own or alongside professional accountants. In a small company, they may be the only qualified accounting professional looking after the finance function, while in a larger company, they may be working as part of a team alongside accountants and administrative staff.

Most students will complete the exams over a two year period. You will be credited with a pass in individual papers if you obtain 50% or higher. Each exam lasts for three hours, with the exception of Integrated Accounting Systems which is a three and a half hour exam. In order to apply for membership of Accounting Technicians Ireland you must pass each exam, subject to compensation rules.

Established in 1983. Accounting Technicians Ireland (formerly IATI) is the leading professional body for Accounting Technicians on the island of Ireland. ATI educate, support and represent over 10,000 people. About the course

The Accounting Technicians Ireland qualification combines professional exams with practical work experience. As members of our body, individuals are entitled to put the letters MIATI after their name, seen by many employers as essential when hiring.

Accounting Technicians are involved in the day-to-day practical work of accountancy and play a key operational role in producing reliable financial information. They can perform a wide range of finance roles, from accounts staff to financial controller and beyond. For instance, they can do financial accounting and budgeting, costing and credit control, payroll administration & tax returns. More experiencedA ccountingT echnicians may often perform senior managerial tasks & audits.

About the course

Diploma in Financial Management was created to provide decision makers with the financial skills they need to make the right decisions. The syllabus is wide-ranging and geared towards giving students practical, usable skills. Graduates are entitled to use the designatory letter DipFM on satisfactory completion

Sector

The Diploma syllabus aims to develop a wide range of key financial skills and techniques, which are relevant to managers in all sectors of the economy. For example:

• Understanding the language of finance; • Explaining the relationship between financial

accounting, management accounting and financial management;

• Using accounting information and techniques within your organisation and recognising how they impact on your organisations decision making and control procedures;

• Recognising the strategic use of financial techniques and information in planning and forecasting.

ACCA aims to offer business-relevant, first-choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management.

AssessmentCandidates are required, as part of their assessment, to submit a project for each module of the Diploma in Financial Management qualification. Each project will consist of two assignments – one for each subject area in the module.

This qualification is open to;

• University graduates and to professionals in disciplines other than accounting.

• Non-Graduates who have reached the age of 23 years and who hold positions in management responsibilities.

• There are no exemptions awarded from the Diploma in financial Management, irrespective of the qualifications held.

This course is designed for those interested in computerised accounts. It provides practical and functional skills in the use of Sage Line 50 accounting software.

Students who successfully complete the course will benefit from the skills and knowledge gained in the use of Sage Line 50 by making use of the invoicing, stock processing, operation and management of core accounting and year end functions of the software for your organisation.

This short course is suitable for those who wish to use Sage Line 50 accounting software at home or at work.

Professional Body Recognition

The programme is designed for graduates or experienced managers who wish to further develop their career in management. The aim of the programme is to equip students with the knowledge and skills in business management to allow them to make an effective contribution to an organisation. The programme covers a wide range of contemporary issues and develops the critical, analytical and technical skills needed by senior management staff. The programme will also develop the academic skills required for study at postgraduate level. It is taught both full-time and part-time at Griffith College Limerick, one of NCC Education's Accredited Partner Centres

The skills and knowledge gained on this generic high-end management qualification are transferable to all sectors within public and private employments, manufacturing units, service organisations and self-employment. The qualification is also designed to allow enhanced progression in a wide range of management roles in the public, private and charitable sectors

The programme equips students with the academic knowledge and intellectual skills to study towards a masters-level qualification. The programme may be used to attain advanced standing on MBA programmes with UK universities. Such options are available through Griffith College Limerick on completion of the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PgD BM).

Entry RequirementsOn entry a student will have:

An honours degree from a UK university (minimum 2:2) in any subject, or equivalent award from a non-UK university, Three years' work experience at managerial level with significant responsibility for resources (staff, financial, physical etc, or a combination of these). Prospective students must be able to demonstrate that these responsibilities were significant and that they had a high level of autonomy. A decision on entry to the programme via a work experience route will be made by NCC Education. Applicants whose first language is not English will need an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent, as outlined in the NCC Education English Language Requirements for Postgraduate Entry document.

This course provides a rich learning experience in which the student is challenged to become a reflective and effective manager. It builds on a critical perspective that understands that one solution does not fit every situation. This approach enables students to explore their leadership styles, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and consider a variety of approaches to change.

Students develop their view of management through a variety of methodologies. Drawing on personal experience, and applying their newly acquired skills and knowledge are key elements of the programme. The course equips students to be confident, creative, and capable managers, well versed in all management functions, with the flexibility to see situations from a fresh perspective.

Research Methodology Dissertation (Project)

The MBA is a generic qualification that crosses all boundaries of business, administration and senior management

A wide variety of senior management and consultancy roles in the private and public sectors are available to MBA graduate. These include: accounting and finance / general management / human resources / marketing / new product development and innovation. The College provides student support library, research, study and IT facilities at our Limerick City Campus throughout this programme.

This programme is 100% assessment based, with the Research Methods Unit, requiring the construction of a project specification, and the Research Project unit, assessed by Dissertation.

About the course

The role of the secretary / administrator has

dramatically changed over the last number of years

and now encompasses the whole of Office

Management. To meet this need GCL has designed

and structured this course so that not only will you

be proficient at typing, office procedures, but also a

range of areas including business computer

applications, business administration and

accounting. The course has been designed to equip

the students with the knowledge and practical

skills required to commence employment on

completion, but also as a basis for progression to

higher professional or academic studies.

The BTEC Certificate in Management is designed to provide a framework of education and training for those in management, or wish to enter management at middle management, supervisory of team leading level. It gives the knowledge, understanding and key skills necessary to provide effective leadership and supervision in those roles, as well as the opportunity to improve ones own performance, working with others and problem solving.

This is a BTEC Edexcel programme (www.edexcel.com).

Those who have either completed, or are about to

complete the Certificate in Management, can apply for

fast track associate Membership of the Chartered

Management Institute (A.C.M.I). Details of services and

benef its of Membership can be found on

www.managers.org.uk or www.edexcel.com

For those applicants less than 23 years of age a Pass

Leaving Certificate or equivalent is required. For those

over 23 it is BTEC Edexcel's policy that the qualification

should be available to everyone who is capable of

reaching the required standards.

Course duration is 32 weeks. Each unit identifies relevant

aspects of the National Occupational Standards for

management that are addressed by the outcome and

content of the unit. The course concentrates on the

development of key skills. These are transferable skills,

which play an essential role in developing personal

effectiveness for adult working life. In the wider

curriculum the course helps the learner to develop an

understanding of the spiritual, moral, ethical, social and

cultural issues and awareness of environmental issues,

health and safety considerations, and European

developments. To achieve the whole qualification all four

core units and two specialist units, form a choice of four,

must be completed.

Economic growth can only be increased and sustained if

manufacturers, distributors and the service industries are

able to sell and distribute their products profitably to the

widest possible markets. This programme outlines the

importance of the functions of marketing, advertising and

public relations as part of Marketing Management. They

are professional disciplines in their own right offering

carer development to eventual senior management.

This programme is designed to give an understanding of the environment within which business operates, and provide the knowledge and skills necessary to perform adequately in any single functional area of marketing.

Progression & Careers

There are excellent career opportunities, in both the

public and private sectors, for those with good creative,

analytical and inter-personal skills who can demonstrate

their ability to develop, communicate and implement

ideas and concepts.

Subject to status and grades obtained, holders of the

Advanced Diploma in Marketing, Advertising & Public

Relations who wish to undertake degree level studies in

Communications or Marketing may offer the qualification

for degree entry purposes.

Closed-book examinations are held in March and September each year.

The Institute of Commercial Management benefits from

full recognition by the regulators of external

qualifications in England – the Office of the Qualifications

and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual).

The Institute operates an 'Open Entry' policy in respect

Associate Degree in Communications

This is awarded to those candidates who, having

completed the Diploma and Advanced Diploma, provide

the ICM with the Assignment required for the award of

the Associate Degree. The Assignment requirements are

set by the ICM and typically involve the completion of a

work or industrial based research project

This programme has been designed for those with an interest in human resource development, training and personnel management. It provides prospective business and management students with a body of knowledge which will enable them to understand and apply human resource theory in the working environment, understand the importance of human resource development to the success of a business, to make a positive contribution to the work of a Human Resource Management Department and to increase and enhance employment opportunities within the human resource development Industry.

programme providing they have been in full-time employment for a minimum of three years and hold a senior supervisory or managerial position.

This is a broad based Business Studies Programme designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers and to enhance employment opportunities. It aims to provide prospective business and management students with a body of knowledge which will: Increase their employment opportunities Prepare them for eventual supervisory and management careers in industry and commerce Provide them with a qualification which will enable them to progress to higher level general management or specialised business programme at a later stage in their business or academic careers.

This is a generic business qualification that is of value to the holder all sectors where business and commercial activity takes place

Students who have completed the programme are eligible to register for “Incorporated Engineering” status with the Engineering Council in the UK.

Entry RequirementsMinimum entry requirements are: Irish Leaving Certificate with at least two Higher Level passes at grade C in a technical subject (to include mathematics); or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience. The College welcomes applications from mature students (over 23 years of age) who do not possess the above entry requirements but who can demonstrate, through their experience, that their grounding in maths & science is sufficient. Accreditation for Prior (Experiential) Learning will be considered. IELTS of 5.5 bands minimum or equivalent is required for those whose first language is not English.

The National Institute for Transport & Logistics (NITL) is supported by the National Development Plan through Enterprise Ireland and is managed by the Department of Transport Engineering at Dublin Institute of Technology.

The Certificate in Desktop Publishing course combines

basic desktop publishing skills and graphics design

principles with the specifics of how to use Adobe

InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat to

create visual communications. It teaches users how to

harness the power of these packages to develop

different types of documents from simple flyers to
