When and Where?• When:

– Show up on time 8:00am day of race– Be in your assigned position minimum of 15 min

before race start– Please have cards drawn for COG or assistant to

review before race start– Participate until last racer is finished and TD has

released you (protests have been supported) • Where:

– Report to Race Center– Will be positioned along the Race Course

What you will do:• Draw gates you are assigned

– Proper Passage– Another drawing in case of fault

• Fill out control card particulars – (Race, date, your name, 1st/2nd run, male/female, GS/SL,

etc.)• Prepare for documenting faults

– Fill up the card (drawings) as time permits• Document Faults

– Bib number, gate, and “F” or Re-run• Communicate with Athetes (“Go!” And “Back”)

Gate Judge Responsibilities

Supervises one or more gates– Determines if both ski tips and boots passed the gates correctly– Verifies that the racer did not receive outside assistance– Communicates with the Athlete: Either “Back” or “Go” or “Continue”– Determines if there has been interference– Replaces missing gates in dye spots, straighten leaning gates,

replace panels*– Maintains the race surface*– Controls spectators and coaches who may crowd or interfere with

the course* *Course maintenance workers and other race officialshelp with these duties

What you can say?

• “Go!” or “Continue” – If the skier has cleared the gate and can proceed down the course

• “Back!” – If the skier has not cleared a previous gate

• “Course” to clear the course for an athlete
