Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is all India level examination primarily for

u Financial Assistance: A valid GATE score is essential for obtaining Financial Assistance during Master’s Programs and direct Doctoral Programs in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture, and Doctoral Program in Institutes supported by the MHRD or other Government agencies. The candidate will get financial assistantship.

u Employment: There is a host of several PSU’s who are now recruiting through GATE Scores of candidate. In past Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) like- IOCL, NTPC, PGI, BARC, BHEL, GAIL, HECL, NALCO etc. has taken GATE score in consideration for recruitment of candidates and it is accepted that they will consider it this year as well. GATE score hold good value for jobs in private sector MNCs as well.

u Research fellowship: Junior and Senior Research Fellowship by ISRO, DRDO, BARC, CSIR, IITs etc.u Scope for Foreign Universities: National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang

Technological University (NTU, Singapore) consider the GATE score in their admission procedure for MS.
