This album is a reflection of the many transitions that occurred in my life over a period of five years or so: I moved from Namibia (Africa) to Canada; I became a husband and father; I lost one of my dearest friends to AIDS; and I became a full-time musician. These events amalgamated into: The Garth Prince album that will hopefully inspire you to sing and dance... even in the rain. THANK YOUs: To deny the difference that God has made in my character and career over the past decade would be like denying the fact that you are reading these words right now. God is real and he has given me the strength to get through these big transitions of my life. So first an foremost... Thanks be to God. I seriously lucked out... I married the most supportive woman I have ever met. Yes, like everyone else, we do have our disagreements, but that's usually because I am wrong. (Michelle, this statement does not refer to future disagreements, because I might be right about something some day, and you never know which day that will be.) To friends, fans and family who pre-ordered this album months in advance: I couldn’t have done this without you. Thanks for catching a glimpse of the vision. Please realize that this is only the beginning, Special Thanks: Ena Venter, director of Mascato Youth Choir. You had the patience to work with this diamond in the rough, and so many others. Your life example has inspired my vision: “World Music For a Better World.” LYRICS: If You Can Walk You Can Dance Written by Joel Forth Someone told you when you were young that the be all and end all's just to be what you want. But itʼs kind of strange now that you've grown strong hat it's harder to see just how far you have come and even now you question how far you can go but turn around and just take a look back at the road. CHORUS: If you can walk you can dance If you can talk you can sing. If you can dream it You can do anything. If you can smile you can love and like the winter turned to spring if you believe it you can do anything. Now you’ve been reading what the media tells you that the worth of a personʼs the reverse of their waistline but sooner or later you look at yourself. You wonʼt be someone else coz you donʼt wanna waste your time. And you will look at your life with hope to spare, because you know that everything you want is already there. CHORUS If you can walk you can dance If you can talk You can sing If you can dream You believe You can do anything.

The Fork in the Road Written by Joel Forth

Gonna take you for a ride roll the windows down. Feel the air in you hair and your feet down in my shoes. Gonna let you ride front seat I promise now.Hear the sound of the ground and the rhythm of my blues. Let's hope you see the signs or the fork down in the road. I always hold my breath for you. Let's hope you read the lines. All the verses of my soul. I only live this life for you. Gonna take you on an African safari now. Hear the words of the birds and the roaring lion too. Gonna let you be the driver hold the wheel now. I know I must stand in trust of all the things you try to do.

God Bless AfricaWritten by Joel ForthOriginal (true) story by Garth Prinsonsky

I was flipping through these pages, looking for my friendWhen I couldn’t find him, I wondered where could he beThen I found his sister I thought my search was at an endBut she spelled for me the answer, he lost to HIVSo now I'm thinking...CHORUS: May God bless Africa / and open up our eyes /May our children grow in knowledge / may our children be wise /God bless Africa / and open up our eyes /May our children grow in knowledge / may our children be wise /I can’t believe he’s gone He was like my brotherBut he bore his pain in silence Alone with his diseaseI wish that I had known I wish he didn’t have to sufferBut I wonder if I’d been there, would he have opened up to meSo still I'm thinking (CHORUS)Oh lord can you hear me now I’m crying for my land. Have mercy on your people. Lend a healing hand.

AmazingWritten by Garth Prinsonsky

For putting the food on the table. For raising the children. I've been meaning to tell you.You are amazing. I know I don’t say it enough. You are amazing. For saying I do and staying true to me. You don't know what it means to me. You are simply amazing. Yes you are. You are amazing.This... this is your love song. I'm hoping you're happy now, seeing a grown man down in tears. I'm spending the rest of my years with you. And only you. Yes I do. And I'll say it again. Yes I do.For believing in me and believing in dreams. You and me, simply amazing. Yes, simply amazing. For turning this house into a home. You are simply amazing.Yes you are simply amazing. Translation (Backing vocals) Ek N!a jou. Ek het jou lief. We ho. (Afrikaans) I like you. Okapi JamboWritten by Joel Forth

They say there's a beast within the jungle here in Africa. He hides among treeswearing the most divine of camouflage. They say he's a fusion of giraffe, zebra andmaybe more. They call him Okapi... the African unicorn. You see the okapi. Jambo jambo... (repeat)From the Nile to the savannah down in Namibia, he moves like a phantom hiding from tourists taking his photograph. But look in the middle of thecontinent at the DRC. This is the heart. This is the conflict, the legacy. You see the okapi. Jambo jambo... (repeat)Land of war. Land of famine land of racism. Land of disease. Landof special endangerment. No! Land of hope. Land of beauty. Landof co-existence. Okapi Jambo, to the future brothers and sisters. You see the okapi. Jambo jambo... (repeat)

Translation: “Okapi” is an African animal. Jambo means “hello” in a few southern African languages.

Sand and SeaWritten by Joel Forth

I wanna hear the crash of the waves, feel the cool wind on my face. I wanna run through open spaces, oh I wish I was home again. I wanna feel the heat of the sun. I wanna hear the echoing drums. This is how the story begun. How I wish I could call someone and say. CHORUS: All I ever thought I needed was a place that I could call my home, but then I heard the call to chase my dreams. And all I ever thought I needed was a piece of you, a piece of me. I know I said it. I don't regret it, but I never really thought I'd leave... My home of sand and sea. I need to see you soon. I feel the shifting dunes. I still remember the tune, a siren calling me back to you. Gotta close this great divide. You taught me wrong from right. I know sometimes it was a fight but the desert's where the strong survive. CHORUS. Now I feel the crash of the waves. Feel the cool wind on my face. I'm running free in open spaces... in my home of sand and sea.

The Barefoot KingWritten by Joel Forth Story by Garth Prinsonsky

I am the barefooted king. The sun is my queen, but Momma don't call me in. I am free. Sand castles and sand cars. My kingdom is the outdoors. So Momma don't callme in. I am free. Tama... Tamariskia. Rocks and mountains standing guard over my backyard. So Momma you need to know I am free. My feet speak in rhythm

with this land. It knows what I have planned, and Momma don't call me in. I am free.Tama... Tamariskia. Ja ek mis jou. (Afrikaans: yes I miss you)
