In the afternoon : Visit of the DOMAINE DE CHAUMONT-SUR-LOIRE. The castle overlooks the Loire Valley with a strategic position. It has been rebuilt from 1465 to 1510 by the Chaumont-Amboise family. At the end of the 19th century, the prince and princess of Broglie re- furbished the chateau with a luxurious style, built modern stables and had a magnificent park designed. Then, visit of the Festival International des Jardins: original and astonishing gardens: each year, numerous landscapers, horticultu- rists, designers, artists, architects, students ... answer the call of this international competition. Continuing towards Tours. En fin d’après-midi : Settling at the hotel** in Tours or in its conurbation. Dinner. Accommodation at the hotel**. DAY 2 Breakfast at hotel Departure for Villandry. In the morning : Visit the famous GARDENS OF VILLANDRY that surround one of the last great Renaissance chateaux (1536) on the banks of the Loire River like a jewelry box. You will be able to take a stroll in one of the most beautiful garden of France, built on three levels: • the water garden in a cloister of linden trees ; • the decorative flower garden composed of the « garden of love », the « garden of music » and the « herb garden » ; • the kitchen garden covers more than 12 500 m² in the shape of mul- ti-coloured checkboard with its nine squares of vegetables and fruit trees, all planted geometrically. 12.00 – 14.00 : Lunch at the restaurant of château de Villandry. Departure for Lémeré. In the afternoon : Visit of Château du Rivau. This medieval Castle, constructed by Pierre de Beauvau, the great chamberlain of King Charles VII, is the archetype of Lord’s Castles in the Middle age with its keep, machico- lations and drawbridge. The castle is surrounded by 14 gardens clas- sified as “Remarkable Gardens”. Rivau gardens are Conservatory of Fragrant Roses and Conservatory of old Regional Vegetables, evolving with seasons. All year round, discover various flower col- lections: bulbs, irises, peonies, roses, lavender, dahlias, ornamental grasses and vegetables.vivaces, légumes, chrysanthèmes.
