A Message From Our President Bob Park [email protected]
We have just completed another successful plant sale. Once again we have added $2000.00 to
our treasury after expenses. That is the third year in a row we have made a substantial profit.
More than 50 participated this year. Thanks to all of you that helped. The club will enlarge our
financial support to the community and our club members. At the June 17th meeting members
present will hear short presentations on 4 programs the $$committee has chosen to recommend
to the membership. After each discussion a vote will be taken on that item. Please plan to attend
and vote for the community and membership programs you want the club to support financially.
1.) Food Bank
2.) School Projects
3.) Audio/Visual equipment
4.) NHGC pins, shirts, mugs, aprons, etc.
These programs are in addition to the Scholarship award and the recent approval of a donation to
the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
A new budget/finance committee has been established, chaired by Jan Filmeck. This committee
will first audit club transactions over the last 12 months and then review and finalize a budget for
the next club year. June 1st is the starting date for the club year budget so that we have the net
income available from the annual May plant sale and also the membership renewals will be
complete. Please review the minutes from the last board/business meeting in this letter for more
information on this topic and other important items. Carmen and I look forward to seeing you at
our summer events!

Another successful NHGC Plant Sale
Letter to Mayor Kuchta from Bob Park
Good Morning Don!!
I am sorting pictures today and will send you some other shots later. You look really good with your tomato plant!! We submit our follow-up PR to the paper and several others who use our info. (including your e-messenger). The sale was a big success. Thanks to you and your staff for their help. I have met with your new landscaper, Vic Caldarelli, and will be ready to come dig plants that have to be moved as the restoration project gets further along. John Jhnottavange was a huge help to us as he set the tables up for us and deserves a special thank you. As always, the use of the fire station is an important part of the success of our annual plant sale. Once again we were sold out before the announced closing time. Thank you, again,
Mayor Kuchta and Lilian Coluccio

President’s Report
Elaine Nidy has quite a number of baskets that belong to the club. She is hoping we can find
some use for them as storage is becoming a problem. A suggestion was made to give them to
people buying plants at the plant sale. The baskets are from small to large in size. Any ideas of
how to utilize the baskets would be appreciated.
- Bob Park has been meeting with Macedonia City Hall in regard to the maintenance of the
Memorial Park. The City of Macedonia is currently widening route 82 to accommodate the
move of the route 271 entrance. This road change will cause the park to go through a
major renovation. We are not sure what the city plans to do with the plantings in the park.
The Club will put on hold any work on the park until more information is known.
Donna Patz made a motion to adjourn the meeting , Mary Ann Coneglia seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.

Ann O’Neal, Lunch Bunch [email protected]
The NHGC lunch bunch recently met at Olesia's, a Ukrainian restaurant. This was the first stop on the world tour of trying restaurants of different cultures. We had the opportunity to try a variety of Ukrainian dishes such as borscht, pirohi, and stuffed cabbage. For desert we headed off to 'Windswept in Time'. Kim and Edgar Stehli were our hosts. We toured their greenhouse and saw thousands of orchids though they weren't all in bloom. It was still mind boggling. Edgar then gave a brief talk on orchids. It was most informative! Stay tuned for information on the next lunch outing. I'd love to have you join us. It was suggested we need a new name for the lunch bunch because it sounds too similar to another group. Have any suggestions? Please email me your suggestions.
