All Gamma Nu Members – that prepared and delivered “Treats for Teachers”
It is strange how, as a teacher, I have always
thought of the beginning of school as a new year. I don’t
really celebrate January 1, but August is “my” New Years
month. Even in retirement, it hasn’t changed! I somehow
measure the passing of days as you might de-
scribe a race. This past month has been a
sprint from the very beginning. I can’t wait
to get on a straight and even path so I can
begin to pace myself.
School began very calmly for me. I
hope that you are able to say the same,
whether you are actively employed or retired.
I know that the “Treats for Teachers” were very well
received and very much appreciated. I understand that
some of you even took some pictures. I look forward to
seeing them posted on our website.
I am anxiously anticipating our first meeting,
September 13, and the Area III Workshop on Septem-
ber 15. Hopefully, you will be able to attend one, or both,
of these meetings. I hope to see you soon!

tember 15th at Berry Miller Jr. High School in
Pearland ISD. The theme for this workshop is
“Explore the Vision—Experience the Light.” Area
Coordinator Kim Birkelbach and her Steering Com-
mittee has planned a wonderful time of training and
fellowship for the DKG members of Area III. If
you have not already registered, you may attend by
paying $25.00 at the registration desk that day.
More information will be given at the September
meeting.
New Member Recommendations
Recommendation forms were distributed in folders
at the August meeting. These forms will need to be
given to Adela Pirzadeh, Membership Chairman, at
the September 13th meeting. New members will be
voted on in October and orientation will be held af-
terwards. The initiation will follow in November.
Forms can be downloaded from the Gamma Nu web-
site, or they will be available at the meeting.
“Women Teachers to the Cooking”
Dr. Vicki Davis, TSO President 2009-2011, has com-

Treats for teachers will be taken to each campus the week of August 27. Pam passed around a sign-

Yearbook chairman.
Committees and Chairman- We received a handout with this year’s committee assignments. Sev-
