GameFinder
The Situation
GameFinder
Who? Teens and young adults.
What? Socializing face-to-face.
Where? Anywhere.
When? Whenever. Day or night.
Why? A need to be social.
How? An easy-to-use interface letting you easily organize events.
The Problem
People nowadays spend all their time staring
at screens. We socialize through websites
like Facebook. We use mobile apps and
games to connect across hundreds of miles.
Sadly, this has resulted in a huge decrease of
people in a local area socializing face-to-
face. GameFinder is designed to remedy this
through the use of a mobile app.
The Question
How do we get people to meet new people
and socialize through methods other than
their phones?
Insight
Ease-of-use lets people satisfy their desire to
socialize in a real-world setting with a
minimal amount of effort.
The Pitch
My team, GameFinder, is developing a
mobile app which will help teens and young
adults who have trouble getting outside meet
new people and being active by bringing an
easy-to-use platform to socialize to their
mobile phones.
Interviews
When we asked Max Horne if he wanted
an easier time meeting new people, he said
“Yes.”
Colin Leslie said “I could imagine using it
to meet new people.”
We asked Peter Howard-Snyder how often
he hung out with friends outside of school.
He said “Not very often.”
Flow
The app has a very intuitive and minimalistic
interface. It uses the least amount of buttons
possible and all the ones that are there are
clearly marked. From the main menu you
can find, host, or open a map with all events
near you marked out. Events contain time,
location, and place with details available to
be pulled up.
Feasibility
App will be easy and simple to program.
Simple text uses very little data. Map is
completely optional.
There is little competition. It is an idea
that hasn’t been fully explored before.
Reaches markets that might never have
been reached otherwise.
Competition
The only real competition is called MeetUp, which focuses on creating persistent, dedicated groups of people.
GameFinder focuses on singular events with no future time requirement. Because people aren’t signing up for something, they are more likely to try it. This one-time no-commitment style also resonates more with today’s teens and young adults.
