GAMEON
LIVES ONGREATNESS
In a year where the world turned upside down, our community’s drive to rise strong and keep sports alive pushed the Greater Orlando Sports Commission forward. In the throes of a global pandemic, 28 world-class events came to the region and drove $150 million in economic impact. If this year showed us anything, it’s that you can’t stop progress. And you can’t stop this community. Not now. Not during a pandemic. Not ever.

We are very grateful to Orlando City SC, the Greater Orlando Sports Commission and the Mayor’s Office for supporting Concacaf to deliver the final matches of our 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League. The facilities at Exploria Stadium are first class and all the city’s stakeholders have assisted us in organizing this competition safely, and in a manner that has allowed the teams to showcase some great football to fans across the region. We have seen what a great city this is and on behalf of everyone at Concacaf and the participating clubs, thank you, Orlando.

A WIN FOR ONE
International women’s soccer teams come together in 2020 SheBelieves Cup showcase“ When you show up to play in your Orlando Pride jersey and look in the stands to see all these young faces, you’re that much more motivated to succeed and show them that with a lot of hard work and a belief in yourself, you really can do what you love. With a club that supports us, a city that supports us and the type of soccer atmosphere that we get to play in, it’s just so positive and important for us to be successful.”
Chris Nikic crosses the finish line as the first person with Down Syndrome to complete an IRONMAN“ Parents like me and my wife, our whole lives we’re concerned about our kids and always having to take care of them, and I thought about all of them and how they might feel now seeing how Chris just broke a lot of barriers and shattered a lot of perceptions, and so I felt at peace that parents like us were going to look at their kids and realize that they could do better and they could live a life independence and one of inclusion in the community the way Chris has kind of chartered the path for him to be part of the community.”
Lake County hosts inaugural Mission Inn Resort & Club Championship presented by IOA on LPGA’s Symetra Tour“ In a year full of challenges and uncertainty, we are thrilled to help make this tournament a reality and provide these talented young ladies with more opportunities to pursue their dreams.”

MLS and NBA finish their seasons strong in the innovative Disney Bubble“ We had such uncertainty as to when we would be able to return to our stadiums. But with lots of hard work and lots of difficult discussions with so many different constituents at Disney and ESPN, we were able to announce that we could return to the field and get some games in for our fans.”
340+ elite soccer teams shine at annual ECNL Boys and Girls Florida National Events“ The mentality of the ECNL is to provide a safe top-level experience for our membership, and we accomplished just that with the hard work produced from league staff, Seminole County, Orlando City Youth Soccer and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission. ECNL Florida is one of the most popular events within the series, and is a destination that players, parents and coaches enjoy traveling to for both the soccer and the local attractions.”
