advantage of a superb special teams performance as Columbia scored 24 unanswered points to claim a 17-point season-opening win over SFU. On a three-game win streak following the season opener at Saint Francis, Pa. and back-to-back season-ending victories over Brown and Cornell, Columbia opens its 2019 season after registering back-to-back winning seasons for the fi rst time since 1961 and 1962. The Lions return 15 starters (eight on off ense and seven on defense) and nine total All-Ivy League selec-tions from a program that has won 14 of its 20 games over the last two seasons (8-2 in 2017 and 6-4 in 2018). Last year, Columbia endured a season that saw it suff er injuries to over 25 of its key players. It started four diff erent quarterbacks and won with all of them, lost its top two running backs and top two receivers to injuries and still registered a winning season. The Lions play their second game of the 2019 season, while Georgetown plays its fourth. Columbia recently completed its preseason training camp which began on August 24.

LIONS AIM FOR THREE STRAIGHT WINNING SEASONS Columbia is seeking a third straight winning season for the fi rst time in 72 seasons. Should Columbia fi nish with a winning season in 2019, the Lions would put together three straight winning seasons for the fi rst time since it joined the Ivy League in 1956. It would be the fi rst time Columbia has achieved three straight winning seasons since 1945, 1946 and 1947. Columbia went 8-1 in 1945, 6-3 in 1946 and 7-2 in 1947.

LIONS SEARCHING FOR THIRD STRAIGHT 2-0 START A win over Georgetown would give Columbia its third straight 2-0 start. The last time Co-lumbia began three straight seasons with a 2-0 start was in 1949, 1950 and 1951.

COLUMBIA AND GEORGETOWN MEET FOR FIFTH ANNUAL LOU LITTLE CUP Columbia and Georgetown will compete in the Lou Little Cup for the fi fth year. The rivalry game was established in 2015. The game’s winner earns the right to take home the Lou Little Trophy. Columbia has claimed each of the last two meetings. Last year, Columbia took a 23-0 lead then held off Georgetown 23-15 in Washington, D.C. for its second straight win in the series. In 2017, Columbia won the Lou Little Trophy for the fi rst time with a 35-14 victory over the Hoyas at Robert K. Kraft Field in New York. Georgetown claimed the fi rst two games in both 2015 and 2016. The Cup’s namesake, Lou Little, served as the head football coach at both institutions. Little coached at Georgetown from 1924-30 and helped bring Georgetown football into the modern era. Little recorded a 41-12-3 record over six seasons, while also serving as athletics director.

Rookie of the Week. The conference offi ce announced the honors on Monday afternoon for week one of the 2019 season. Roussos earns the Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week award for the second consecutive week as he took home the same honor on Nov. 19, 2018, following his performance in Columbia’s season-ending 24-21 win over Cornell in which he amazing-ly returned both a kickoff 87 yards for the game-winning touchdown and a punt 91 yards for a score. On Saturday at Saint Francis, Roussos to-taled 149 all-purpose yards, two touchdowns (run and punt return) and scored on a 56-yard punt return touchdown. He became the fi rst Columbia player since Austin Knowlin in 2008 to score a touchdown on a punt return in back-to-back games, tied a career-best with two touchdowns and scored two touchdowns in back-to-back games. While averaging 21.2 yards per touch (7-149), he accumulated 77 kickoff return yards, 66 punt return yards, one catch for fi ve yards and a one-yard touchdown run. He fi nished with the 13th most yards per all-purpose attempt in school history (21.2) with a minimum of fewer than 10 attempts. Roussos is now one of only three players in school history to return two punts for touchdown in a career joining Roy Hanks (1994-97) and Knowlin (2006-09). Roussos is a native of New Port Richey, Fla. and enrolled at Columbia College. A Tulsa, Okla. native, Felkins earns Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors after he converted a 50-yard fi eld goal, the third-lon-gest fi eld goal in Columbia Football history. The 50-yard fi eld goal also marked the lon-gest for a fi rst-year placekicker in school histo-ry. Felkins concluded his fi rst career collegiate

game with seven points (fi eld goal and 4-4 on PATs) and also averaged 64.8 yards per kickoff (6-389) with one touchback. Felkins, who was also named a STATS FCS Special Teams Player of the Week honorable mention, is enrolled at Columbia College.

LIONS REGISTER BACK-TO-BACK WINNING SEASONS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1961-62 With a 24-21 victory over Cornell in its 2018 season fi nale on Nov. 17, Columbia secured its fi rst back-to-back winning seasons for the fi rst time since 1961-62. In 1961, Columbia captured the Ivy League Champi-onship with a 6-3 overall record and followed that up with a 5-4 record in 1962. Aldo T. “Buff ” Donelli coached both teams. In 2018, Columbia concluded its year with a 6-4 overall record. Columbia fi nished 8-2 in 2017.

LIONS AMASS MOST WINS OVER TWO-YEAR PERIOD SINCE 1956 With its 14 victories over the last two sea-sons (combining 2017 and 2018), Columbia set its school-record for most total victories combining two consecutive seasons since it joined the Ivy League in 1956. The Lions surpassed the previous record of 12 wins combining 1996 and 1997. In the 129-year history of Columbia Football, the record is 17 wins over a two-year period in both 1901-02 and 1903-04. Other top winningest two-year periods include 16 wins in 1899-1900; 15 wins in 1900-01, 1933-34, 1932-33 and 1902-03; 14 wins in 1901-02, 1931-32, 1945-46 and 2017-18; 13 wins in 1946-47, 1931-32; and 12 wins in 1996-97,

COLUMBIA PRESEASON NOTES• At Columbia, Bagnoli and staff have

completed one of the most dramatic turnarounds in college football history. The Lions ended a 24-game losing streak from Nov. 17, 2012-Oct. 10, 2015 just three games into Bagnoli’s arrival. In Bagnoli’s third year at Columbia in 2017, he com-pleted one of the nation’s top one-year turnarounds as he guided a 3-7 team in 2016 to an 8-2 overall and 5-2 record in the Ivy League in 2017, then followed that up with a 6-4 season in 2018 that saw injuries to 25 players.

• Despite suff ering injuries to over 25 key players, Columbia completed its 2018 sea-son with a 6-4 overall and 3-4 Ivy League record.

• In 2017 and 2018, Columbia registered back-to-back winning seasons for the fi rst time since 1961 and 1962.

• Columbia has amassed 14 victories over the last two seasons (2017 and 2018), its highest win total in consecutive years since the institution joined the Ivy League in 1956. In addition, Columbia’s six overall victories in 2018 rank among the top-fi ve season win totals at Columbia since 1956.

• In 2019, Columbia returns a veteran, expe-rienced and talented team as nine Lions return who have earned All-Ivy League honors over the past three seasons includ-ing WR Josh Wainwright, PK Oren Milstein, OL Parker Coogan, DB/KOR Will Allen, DL Daniel DeLorenzi, LB Michael Murphy, WR

history. It also marked the longest fi eld goal in school history for a fi rst-year player. Felkins scored seven points on the after-noon with four PATs and his fi rst career fi eld goal.

• Sophomore Cam Dillon made a ca-reer-high 10 tackles, with 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

• Junior punter Drew Schmid fi nished the day with a 37.9 average per punt and a long of 52 yards. Most importantly, he placed four of his seven punts inside the SFU 20-yard line.

• Sophomore Mitchell Shinskie registered his fi rst career sack.

MISCELLANEOUS• A variety of Columbia players saw action in

scored the fi rst rushing touchdown of his career on a quarterback sneak. It marked the fi rst rushing attempt of his career.

• On his 56-yard punt return for touchdown, Mike Roussos became the fi rst player to score on punt returns in back-to-back games since Austin Knowlin achieved the same status in 2008. Austin Knowlin was the last player to achieve that honor when he returned punts for touchdown at Har-vard and vs. Cornell, Nov. 8-15, 2008. The last time that happened was 101 games ago.

• Junior running back Broderick Taylor saw the fi rst action of his career as he caught his fi rst pass and earned his fi rst carry of his career. Taylor is coming off two years of back-to-back injuries.

• Senior Josh Wainwright made his fi rst ap-pearance in nine games as he started and caught four passes for 48 yards.

• With his four receptions on the day, Wain-wright moved into sole possession of fi fth place on Columbia’s all-time receptions list. He now has 128 career receptions. With his 48 receiving yards on the day, Wainwright moved into fourth place on Columbia’s career receiving yards list with 1,610 yards. Wainwright also registered his 21st career game with a reception.

• Senior Ronald Smith fi nished with four receptions for 80 yards. He now has 1,258 career receiving yards and 92 receptions. His 61-yard reception in the second quar-ter marked his second-longest reception.

• First-year Alex Felkins’ 50-yard fi eld goal tied for the third longest kick in school

WHAT THE LIONS RETURN On a three-game win streak and winners of 16 of its last 22 games, Columbia returns 15 of its 22 starters including eight on off ense and seven on defense.

NEXT MAN UP FOR COLUMBIA With all the injuries, Columbia has still found a way to win. It is a “Next Man Up” men-tality for Columbia Football, who has played without its top three quarterbacks, its top two

time winningest seasons in Columbia Football history. Since Columbia joined the Ivy League in 1956, the Lions have won six or more games in a season just fi ve times: 1961, 1971, 1996, 2017 and 2018. Here is where six wins would stack up against other top seasons in school history: 9 win seasons- 1903, 1899 8 wins- 1901, 1933, 1945, 1996, 2017 7 wins- 1900, 1904, 1931, 1932, 1934, 1947 6 wins- 1925, 1926, 1946, 1961, 1971 and

2018!

LIONS SUFFER EXCESSIVE INJU-RIES IN 2018 More than 25 players and fi ve previous returning All-Ivy League selections suff ered injuries for Columbia in 2018. Ronald Smith, P Drew Schmid, and kickoff /punt return specialist Mike Roussos.

• Columbia entered the 2019 season on a two-game win streak (wins over Brown and Cornell) and after having won eight of its last 12 games and 15 of its last 21 contests dating back to the conclusion of the 2016 season.

• Columbia also enters the 2019 season on a school-record seven-game non-confer-ence win streak. The Lions have been a perfect 3-0 in non-conference play in each of the last two seasons: 2017 and 2018.

• College Football celebrates college football’s150th anniversary in 2019. As the third oldest college football program in the nation, Columbia will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year as the pro-gram began operation in 1870.

• Columbia Head Coach Al Bagnoli enters the 2019 season as college football’s active winningest coach at any level with a 254-119 overall record in 36 years as a head coach. Bagnoli, who begins his fi fth year at Columbia in 2019, is also ranked No. 2 in the Ivy League coaching history in league titles (9), Ivy League wins (123), Ivy League games coached (268), games coached vs. Ivy League teams (189) and seasons in the Ivy League (27) and No. 3 in overall coach-ing wins in the Ivy League (167).

• Columbia adds two new members to its coaching staff in 2019: quarterbacks coach Ryan Larsen and wide receivers coach Jerry Taylor.

COLUMBIA 3-0 IN NON-CONFER-ENCE PLAY FOR LAST TWO SEASONS A 34-24 win over Marist gave Columbia a 3-0 non-conference record for the second consecutive season in 2018. The Lions also swept non-conference opponents: 41-24 win over CCSU and a 23-15 win at Georgetown). In 2017, Columbia completed its three-game non-conference schedule with a 3-0 record for the fi rst time since 2006. The Lions defeated Wagner (17-14), Georgetown (35-14) and Marist (41-17) last season. Columbia has completed perfect non-con-ference seasons only seven times since the Ivy League was formed in 1956: 1963, 1967, 1970 all with 2-0 records and 1996, 2006, 2017 and 2018 all with 3-0 records.

SIX WINS AMONG THE WINNIN-GEST ALL-TIME AT COLUMBIA Despite injuries to over 25 players, Co-lumbia still put together a winning season in 2018. Columbia’s six wins rank among the all-

As a junior, Samouk started all 10 games at defensive tackle and fi nished the year with 18 tackles (six solo) with 2.5 sacks for 14 yards, 4.0 tackles for loss for 21 yards and a pass breakup. His sacks came in games vs. Marist and at Brown. Should he play in all 10 games in 2019, he will tie a school record for most career games played. He has helped guide Columbia to back-to-back winning seasons for the fi rst time since 1961 and 1962. Off the fi eld, Samouk has made a tremen-dous impact at Columbia and in the com-munity. He has been involved in a variety of on-campus and volunteer activities. Samouk is the Treasurer and an Executive Board Mem-ber of Columbia’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a campus group set up to create and improved academic environment for student-athletes by working with administra-tion, faculty, academic deans and professors. He has served as an active volunteer with Columbia’s sports camps and other communi-ty-related events with on-campus student-led organizations. Samouk also founded and currently serves as treasurer for the on-cam-pus South Slavic Cultural Society, a small team set up to help build, plan, organize an effi ciently manage events and seminars about the culture and identity of former Yugoslavia and other countries within the region. In addition, Samouk has volunteered his time with two Columbia Football initiatives: the Be the Match Bone Marrow Drive and Jacked for Jacklyn. ROUSSOS EARNS PRESEASON THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICA HONORS Sophomore Mike Roussos was named a preseason Third Team All-American by Phil Steel Magazine in its national preview issue this fall. In the 2018 season fi nale against Cornell, Roussos became the fi rst player in school history to score a touchdown on a punt return and kickoff return as he achieved both against the Big Red. He returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown in the fi rst quarter, then with Columbia training 21-17 with 45 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, Roussos picked up a squib kick and weaved through the Cornell defense for an 87-yard, game-win-ning touchdown. The play was shown on ESPN SportsCenter top-10 plays of the day. At the conclusion of the season, Rous-sos was named a Second Team Freshman All-America selection by Phil Steele Magazine and a First Team All-Ivy League as a return specialist. He accumulated 433 all-purpose yards (218 on punt returns, 203 on kickoff returns) on the year and led the Lions with an 18.2 punt return average (12-218). LIONS DOMINATE TIME OF POS-SESSION Counting its season opener at SFU, Co-lumbia has won the time of possession battle in 15 of its last 20 games including six of 10 games in 2018. Last year, Columbia ranked No. 15 nationally and ranked third in the Ivy League in time of possession after maintain-ing possession for 32:29. One game that stands out from 2018 was the contest vs. Marist in which Columbia had possession of the ball for 42 of the game’s 60 minutes.

HE’S BACK: JOSH WAINWRIGHT A First Team All-Ivy League selection in 2017, senior Josh Wainwright was sidelined for the entire 2018 season after suff ering an injury in Columbia’s fi rst game of the 2018 season vs. Central Connecticut State. He made his fi rst appearance last Saturday at SFU

and caught four passes for 48 yards. In 2017, Wainwright set a school record for most receiving yards in a season as he led the Lions with 1,001 yards on 78 receptions and eight touchdown receptions. He also led the Lions in all-purpose yardage (1,127 yards) and averaged 112.7 all-purpose yards per game. For his 21-game, 20-start career, Wain-wright has caught 128 passes for 1,610 yards, 13 touchdowns with fi ve 100-yard receiving games, four double-digit reception games and three multi-touchdown contests. He set school records for fastest to 1,000 career yards and fastest to 1,500 career yards. DYNAMIC DUO: WIDE RECEIVER TANDEM PROVES TO BE THREAT Columbia has the most dangerous wide receiver tandem and deep threat duo in the Ivy League in returning All-Ivy League seniors Josh Wainwright and Ronald Smith. Both play-ers have displayed a knack for getting open and a fl air for the big play. When the duo is healthy and on the fi eld, it has proved to be a lethal combination. Over the last three years, Wainwright and Smith have combined for 220 receptions, 2,868 yards, 23 touchdowns and a 13.0 yards per catch average. With those numbers taking into account the last three seasons (2016-18), the duo has combined for 36 percent (212 of 592) of Columbia’s receptions, 43 percent (2,740 of 6,393) of Columbia’s receiving yards and 51 percent (23 of 45) touchdown receptions. Last year, both players suff ered injuries as Wainwright went down in the fi rst game and Smith continued to play despite battling

DELORENZI EYES CAREER SACKS RECORD Senior Daniel DeLorenzi needs just 2.5 sacks to become Columbia’s all-time career sack leader. He is currently in third place on the all-time list with 17.0 career sacks and trails No. 1 Lou Miller, 19.0 sacks from 2006-09 and No. 2 Josh Martin, 18.0 sacks from 2010-

12. Martin is currently a member of the New Orleans Saints. Last year, DeLorenzi earned First Team All-Ivy League honors after he registered 9.5 sacks for 56 yards, led the Ivy League and ranked No. 12 nationally in sacks per game (0.95). His 9.5 sacks established a new season record for sacks at Columbia. DeLorenzi has led the Lions in sacks in each of his fi rst three seasons at Columbia.

MURPHY LEADS LIONS DEFENSE Senior Michael Murphy returns to lead Columbia’s defense from his outside lineback-er post. A preseason All-Ivy League Second Team selection by Phil Steele Magazine, Murphy is in his fi nal year at Columbia after

This year, Ferraro returns seven starters including previous All-Ivy League selections Daniel DeLorenzi (DL) and Michael Murphy (LB) along with defensive linemen Cooper Wilson, Arman Samouk and defensive backs Will Allen, Ben McKeighan, Fara’ad McCombs and Ben Mathiasmeier. In 2018, the Lions allowed just 25.2 points per game and ranked among national leaders in sacks (30), fi rst down defense and third down conversion percentage (34.5%). PUNTER U Three former Columbia punters—2016 se-niors Cameron Nizialek and Matt Panton and 2017 senior Parker Thome—graduated from Columbia and used their fi nal year of eligibili-ty to punt in the Southeastern Conference. Thome, a First Team All-Ivy League punter who led the conference in punting in 2017, was named the starting punter at Vanderbilt. He graduated from Columbia in May and is pursuing a graduate degree. In 2017, Nizialek, who led the Ivy League in punting average and earned Ivy League Second Team honor in 2016, punted for Georgia as it made its run to the FBS national championship game, while Panton attended grad school and was the starting punter at Kentucky. Nizialek punted in the NFL for the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. All three players were granted a fi fth year of eligibility by the NCAA, but had expired their fourth year of Ivy League football.

CLOSE CALLS AND TIGHTLY CON-TESTED GAMES Since Al Bagnoli took over as head coach in 2015, Columbia has been competitive in almost every game. IVY LEAGUE EXPERIMENTAL RULES For the fourth consecutive year, the Ivy League will use experimental rules which move kickoff s to the 40-yard line and touchbacks to the 25-yard line in an eff ort to reduce concussions and further promote the safety and welfare of its student-athletes. These rules will only be used in Ivy League games. The goal of the experimental rule is to limit kickoff returns, which account for 23.4 percent of concussions during games despite representing only 5.8 percent of overall plays. The League will evaluate the concussion and

kickoff return data after the 2016 season. The request was made to the NCAA as a part of The Ivy League’s overall review of concussions, which began with football in 2010 and has included eight other sports to date (men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, wrestling and rugby). As a result of this comprehensive review of concussions, the League began an all-sports concussion data collection and study in 2013. Data from this study prompted discussion of kickoff s, which led to The Ivy League head football coaches suggesting this experimental rule change. The NCAA granted The League’s request for conference games only. This experimental rule is the latest in a se-ries of Ivy policies and rules that are designed to limit the incidence of concussions. The Ivy League formally adopted another policy originating with the League’s eight head football coaches to eliminate to-the-ground (“live”) tackling in practices during the regular season, which will also go into eff ect with the 2016 campaign. Changing practice rules does not require NCAA approval. In addition, the Ivy League eliminated two-a-day practices during preseason with the 2017 season.

BILL CAMPBELL NO. 67 FEATURED ON JERSEYS For the third consecutive year and for all of its 31 varsity sports, Columbia will wear a No. 67 patch on its uniform in honor of former Lion player, coach, confi dante and friend Bill Campbell, who passed away in April, 2016 at age 75. The Lion football team will also feature 67 stickers on helmets. A four-year student-athlete, Campbell captained the 1961 Ivy League Championship football team, which was inducted into the Columbia Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010 and earned All-Ivy League accolades as a senior. In 1963, Bill and a group of football and rugby alumni founded the Old Blue Rugby Club. He returned to Columbia to coach the Columbia Football team for six seasons between 1974 and 1979. Campbell made his mark in the business world and became known as the “Coach of Silicon Valley.” He was vice president at J. Wal-ter Thompson, an advertising agency based in New York, and then moved on to become general manager of consumer products for Kodak Europe. After Kodak, he joined Apple Computer in 1983, and rose to the level of executive vice president; he went on to found and served as president and CEO of Claris Corporation, a spin-off software developing

company created and owned by Apple in 1990. Campbell assumed his role as chairman of Intuit, the maker of Quicken, QuickBooks, and Turbo Tax, in 1998 and served as its CEO until 2000. As an executive, Campbell’s marketing and strategic acumen helped build Claris, Apple, and Intuit alike into remarkable Silicon Valley success stories. Because of his tremendous leadership and passion for Columbia Athletics, the University dedicated the Campbell Sports Center in his honor in October 2013. In fall 2014, the athlet-ics program retired uniform number 67 – the number Campbell wore as an off ensive line-man and linebacker for the 1961 Ivy League Champions - for all 31 of Columbia’s varsity teams. At the 2015 Varsity C Celebration, the athletics program introduced a new award, the William V. Campbell Performer of the Year to be presented annually to the top male and female student-athletes of the academic year.

PATRICIA & SHEPARD ALEXANDER HEAD COACH OF FOOTBALL AL BAGNOLI

The nation’s active winningest coach in college football (all division), a nine-time Ivy League Football Champion and one of the all-time winningest head coaches in NCAA Football Cham-pionship Subdivision history, Al Bagnoli was named Columbia’s Patricia and Shepard Alexander Head Coach of Football in February 2015. He begins his fi fth season at Columbia in 2019. Nationally known for his ability to turn football programs into winners, Bagnoli arrived at Columbia after 23 years at the University of Pennsylvania, where he totaled a 148-80 overall record and a 112-49 record in the Ivy League. His Penn teams won nine Ivy League Champi-onships, including six undefeated conference marks (1993, 1994, 2002, 2003, 2009, 2010) and three perfect seasons (10-0 in 1993 and 2003, 9-0 in 1994). In 37 years as a head coach, Bagnoli’s career record currently stands at 254-119. His career winning percentage (68.1%) ranks fi rst among active FCS coaches and fourth all-time among FCS coaches. His 254 victories rank as the 23rd all-time total in the history of college football, fi rst among active college football coaches at any level, sixth among all-time FCS coaches and fi rst among active FCS coaches. Bagnoli’s 123 career Ivy League victories rank as the second highest total in league history. Players have achieved under Bagnoli as 27 of his former players were either drafted or signed a free agent contract by NFL teams, fi ve earned the Ivy League’s Asa A. Bushnell Cup Award (league MVP), nine garnered First Team All-America honors, four received the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and 225 have secured All-Ivy League accolades. Last year Columbia completed its 2018 season with a 6-4 overall and 3-4 Ivy League record despite overcoming injuries to over 25 key players. The Lions registered back-to-back win-ning seasons for the fi rst time since 1961 and 1962. Under Bagnoli, Columbia has amassed 14 victories over the last two seasons, its highest win total in consecutive years since the institu-tion joined the Ivy League in 1956. In addition, its six overall victories rank among the top-fi ve season win totals at Columbia since 1956. In 2017, Bagnoli guided Columbia to its best season since 1996 as the Lions accumulated an 8-2 record and fi nished second in the Ivy League with a 5-2 campaign. For the fi rst time in 21 years, Columbia was involved in the Ivy League Championship chase up until the season’s fi nal minutes. In addition, Columbia began a season with six straight wins for the fi rst time since 1996, put together the school’s longest win streak since 1935 (seven games) and posted one of the nation’s top-fi ve best yearly comebacks in the FCS with a fi ve-win improvement from 2016 to 2017. Along the way, it was the Lions’ resiliency, toughness and work ethic that captured the attention of their fans, the New York City media and national media members alike. For his eff orts, Bagnoli was named a national Coach of the Year fi nalist by the AFCA and STATS FCS and earned the Ivy League, ECAC and AFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year honors.

PLAYER ACHIEVEMENT UNDER BAGNOLI

BAGNOLI CAREER NOTES

• With his 254 coaching wins upon entering the 2019 season, Al Bagnoli currently ranks as the winningest active football coach at the NCAA col-legiate level (all divisions and levels) and 23rd on the all-time coaching victories list which includes coaches at all levels.

• Bagnoli has guided teams to nine total Ivy League championships, six undefeated Ivy League 7-0 records, including three in back-to-back sea-sons. In 36 years of coaching, he has guided two teams to undefeated 10-0 records, fi ve teams to 10-plus victory seasons and 31 of 36 teams to .500-plus seasons.

• Al Bagnoli is one of nine coaches in league history to head up two diff erent Ivy League schools. He served as head coach at Penn from 1992-2014 and now at Columbia from 2015-present. Percy Haughton is the only coach to work at three diff erent schools: Cornell (1899-00), Harvard (1908-16) and Columbia (1923-24).

• Bagnoli owns fi ve of the Ivy League’s top marks for most victories against one Ivy League school. Ironically, Bagnoli has defeated Co-lumbia 20 times in his career, which ranks sixth all-time on the list. In addition, Bagnoli has defeated Dartmouth 19 times, Yale and Cornell 18 times and Princeton 17 times.

• He is one of only 84 coaches in the history of college football to win at least 200 games.

• Bagnoli amassed an 88-18 record in 10 years at Union College (N.Y.) and guided the Dutchmen to two NCAA Division III championship game appearances and six NCAA Division III playoff berths.

• Bagnoli is the only NCAA football coach with 200 or more career wins who has never been involved in a tie game as a head coach.

COLUMBIA GAME NOTES GEORGETOWN GAME | SEPT. 28, 2019

LORETTO, Pa.—Mike Roussos totaled 149 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns including a 56-yard punt return score, Ryan Young ran for a 65-yard touchdown and the Lions took advantage of a superb special teams performance as Columbia scored 24 unanswered points to claim a 31-14 sea-son-opening football victory over Saint Francis, Pa. After a wild, back-and-forth fi rst quarter which saw the Lions battle back from two early seven-point defi cits, Columbia closed out the game by scoring 24 unanswered points and did not yield a single point over the contest’s fi nal 55 minutes. In the second half, Columbia’s defense limited the Red Flash to just 70 yards and four fi rst downs. SFU (2-2) took an early lead one minute into the game when Gio Vonne Sanders returned an interception 48 yards and Avery Milner ran seven yards for a touchdown and 7-0 lead. Columbia tied the game three minutes later when Ryan Young took a handoff , hit a hole and accelerated past the SFU defense for a career-long 65-yard touchdown run. On the ensuing possession, the Red Flash went back up 14-7 as quarterback Jason Brown hit 6-foot-8 receiver EJ Jenkins for a 74-yard touchdown pass. But the Lions came back and tied at 14-14 on a four-yard touchdown run by Ty Lenhhart. From then on, it was all Columbia as the Lions took a 21-14 lead into half-time. Roussos scored on a one-yard touchdown dive after the Lions drove 80 yards in fi ve plays. The score was set up when Lenhart found Ronald Smith for a key 61-yard pass which put the Lions at the SFU one-yard line. The Lions pushed their lead to 24-14 when Felkins converted a 50-yard fi eld goal with 1:10 left in the third quarter. Roussos provided the exclamation point in the fourth quarter when he fi elded a punt, headed toward the sideline and weaved in-and-out through the SFU defense for the score. With the touchdown, Roussos became the fi rst player at Columbia since Austin Knowlin in 2008 to score on a punt return in consecu-tive games.
