Game Day Traffic Map

Start up

• Clemson traffic situation– 80,000+ fans on game days– 1 main hwy leading into campus

• Navigation can be a gauntlet– Road blocks– One way traffic

• Clemson distributes the most parking placards than any school in the ACC

Real game= communication through email (tech. writing)

• Truth– Not much effort needed to create and distribute

map– Most of effort comes from finding who to write

and waiting for responses• Many times most effective method to cut

through the wait is to make a visit in person– E-mails horrible in time efficiency– E-mails impersonal

Pros and Cons of e-mail

• Pros-– Easy to find someone– Simple to write and send– Fast process

• Cons-– E-mails that are easy to find are usually slow to

respond– Procrastination is the name of the game

Process

• Step 1– Idea

» Fizzled out after lack of support

» Went sour after Iptay proved impossible to reach

» Successful because we went “the extra mile” to get to the right people and gain their attention quickly

Decided- Game day Plan

• During game weeks those in charge of Game-day traffic are extremely busy– Needed a week where CUPD and SC highway

patrol were not extremely busy planning for the weekend

• Away game• Wake Forest

(2 wins+ 1 loss came of this) Save Clemson swimming!

Personal Project-

• It was up to me to get our map put on the Clemson University athletic web site and on the City of Clemson website– 1 success

• Connections through athletics = quick response

– 1 Failure• Easy- to- find emails take their time responding

– (if at all)
