Blanket Wall
Dale Chihuly has collected more than 1000 wool trade blankets
since the late 1960s. For Dale Chihulys Northwest, the artist
selected 232 wool trade blankets for a magnicent wall presen-
tation, hinting at the depth of his collection. These blankets were
manufactured from a number of factories, primarily from Pend-
leton Woolen Mills and Oregon city Woolen Mills. Additional
manufacturers include J. Capps & Sons Woolen Mills, Racine
Woolen Mills, Beaver State, Jacobs Oregon City, Beacon Blan-
kets, the Hudson Bay Company, Buell Manufacturing Company,
and Northern Ohio Blanket Mills.
For more information about Dale Chihulys collection of trade
blankets, please see his book Pendletonsin the museums Art
Resource Center on the third oor.
