The Perfect Birthday
I got up this morning feeling like the happiest boy alive because it was my birthday.
So as soon as I got up I went to the kitchen to get some cereal and turns out my mom
made bacon and eggs. The bacon and eggs were so good as they melted in my mouth. After I
was done eating I went to play my favorite game on my PS4 called Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
A few minutes passed and then my friends start coming over because I was having a
sleepover. When all my friends arrived we start playing GTA5. We also start watching movies,
one of them called Transformers. After we were done watching Transformers my friends and
family all sung Happy Birthday to me.
I was turning 11 years old and we ate ice cream and cake and I will treasure that in my
memory forever. When all my friends left I stayed up the rest of the night watching television.
Then a few hours later I turned off the fan and went to bed.

When I Got My Dog
Three, four years ago when I was in 3rd grade my parents picked me up from school. My
mom said my dad had a surprise for me. When I got home my dad showed me a puppy and it
stared at me. My sister sat down then I put him in her lap. My puppy fell asleep. We made him a
dog house, then the next day I played with him after school. I named him Blacky. He was very
playful. His fur was black with three gray spots. I didn’t know how old he was or what type of
dog he was.
I played with him, catch the Frisbee with him. We played with his toys and we fed him.
We took Blacky with us to the park. We played around with him. He also followed me to
everywhere I went. Whenever I got on my bike, he followed me.
When it snowed we brought him inside the house to put him in warm clothes. He then
went outside. We got him a bed so he would be comfortable. I still have Blacky. He’s not a
puppy, he’s bigger now.

My Gymnastics Evaluation
Hi! My name is Joselyn Olalde and I’m going to tell you my gymnastics evaluation step-
by-step.
First, I started with just knowing how to do a cartwheel and a bridge. I first started doing
gymnastics inside my grandma’s house in the living room. I was on the floor and I pushed
myself up into a bridge.
Then, I learned how to do a handstand when I was in fourth grade. I first started
practicing in a room, doing the handstand on the wall. Then I tried doing it on my own, but I kept
flipping over. But with practice, you can achieve it. Right after I learned how to do a handstand I
learned how to do the splits. At first I could not do it because my leg muscles were not flexible
enough, but with practice and hard work you can achieve anything. And now I can do the splits.
After all that, I learned how to do more stuff like front plus back walkers and limbers. I
learned how to do all those skills and more by connected skills together to make a new skill.
In other words, I learned to do most of the skills I’ve wanted to do, even though I want to
do more. If you fail at something try it again because you can achieve anything!

The Game
Have you ever been sleepy and happy at the same time? I have ‘cause it was a big game
and ‘cause I just woke up. So my dad took us out for something to eat. Then we played a game.
My dad took me to the game. I was kinda nervous because the other team was a little taller,
stronger, and bigger.
The referee called my team and the other team. The referee did the tip-off.
We just played defense and scored off steals, blocks, and turnovers. Then it came to the
last shot. My teammate passed me the ball. I came down the court, shot a 3-point, and SWISH.
We won the game!

The First Time I Went Swimming
I remember this too well. I remember what day it was, what time it was, how many
people went. That’s probably because it was yesterday, but that’s not the point. When I was first
told we were going swimming, it was obvious I would be scared, but I was also excited in a way.
I had butterflies in my stomach, and I didn’t even eat any caterpillars.
Now, when we got there you could see canoes in the distance, and other people
swimming; it was peaceful. And then you could see MY DAD RUNNING SONIC SPEED
INTO THE WATER!! He wasn’t hesitant to get into the water at all. However, I was still scared.
But when I stepped in, it wasn’t that bad. In fact, I had lots of fun. Sure, my clothes got soggy,
but I still had fun. We splashed water in each other’s faces, I drank water even though I knew it
was bad for me, and I swam for the first time if you didn’t catch on. After that, we got ice cream
and sat by the shore.
Oh, and I almost drowned.

An Awesome Christmas
One Christmas morning, the time was 8:45. I hopped out of my bed. I went straight to the
Christmas tree. I had so many presents under the tree. I went to my mom to thank her for
everything she has done for me and my siblings.
I opened all of my presents. I had some really nice shoes, some clothes, and I got a game
called Watchdogs 2. I got another game, the game was NBA2K18, the newest game. Next
Christmas I hope I get the new game Grand Theft Auto 6. Everything I wished for, it all came
true. I hope Grand Theft Auto 6 is a dream come true.

The Last Time
The last time I saw my uncle was the day of his funeral. My whole family went to
Mexico to see him. He died of a brain tumor. He was my favorite uncle. When I was little, me
and him used to dance together. I had great memories with my uncle. So everytime I go to my
grandmother’s house I see him in a box with his ashes. It reminds me of him all the time. But
when I was little I was so scared to go to my grandmother’s house. I’m not scared of the house
anymore, it just has a lot of good memories of him.

My First Time at the Beach
I’ll never forget the first time I went to the beach. It was a late night when my family and
I packed for a long trip and vacation to Corpus Christi at Padre Island. The next day we put our
bags in the car and prepared for a 7 hour trip. We stopped a few times along the way to get gas
for the car, eat food, and go to the restroom. I was surprised to see that the gasoline stations there
are way bigger than the ones back at home. I was so tired along the way because my little brother
kept bothering me, but after 7 hours of pain, we finally got to Corpus Christi. We found a hotel
to stay in and got ready to go to the beach, but as we walked out it started to rain. My mom and
dad said we can go the next day. I was so excited that we were going to the beach but when I
heard that news I got sad.
The next day we woke up at 7:00am, went to eat breakfast and left for another 2 hours to
Padre Island. We finally got there and my brother, my sister, and I ran to the water with my
parents behind. I took off my sandals and felt the soft white sand between my toes. My brother
and I collected lots of shells. We made a sandcastle but it kept falling because it was too soft. But
my favorite part was the crystal clear water. The water was warm and the waves were small. We
had a swimming contest and stayed for two hours. I loved the beach so much. I know I’m going
again.

My Birthday
An exciting time was on my birthday, which is on April 9. I woke up and had a shower.
Then I brushed my teeth and had some Captain Crunch. I put on my clothes and shoes and I went
to get my hair cut. My mom came to pick me up with the family and we head to the Go Cart Fun
place for kids. When we go in, my family went to go decorate. I got in a Go Cart with my brother
and we raced. When we got done, we went to a back room and my family surprised me with
pizza and juice.

Where I First Learned to Draw
A long time ago I never drew. I never did much when I was younger. When I was in 3rd
grade, I met this kid and we liked a lot of the same things. He drew and I wanted to draw too. I
was so determined to do so. Every day we would go to recess we always hang out, talk, play,
laugh, and sometimes draw. After that school year, I never saw him again even though we were
super close friends.
I didn’t stop drawing the things I love and I still do. Going into 4th and 5th grade, my
drawings improved. I decided to change my art skills when I was in 5th grade. I got an invitation
to go to an art competition. I was the youngest there! It was only 8th and 9th graders. LOL. When
I was leaving, they gave me an invitation to do this again soon, so I knew I had to keep drawing.
I haven’t stopped! I continue to draw. I try to draw harder stuff. I’m not good at it, but it helps
me improve my drawings.

My Trip to Mexico
I couldn’t believe I was going to leave my mom and dad to go and visit my other family
members for the first time in Mexico. It was pretty emotional because I had never left my mom
and dad for a very long time. I said goodbye and got on the bus. Once I was on the bus, I felt a
little bit better, but still missed my mom and dad, even though it was just 1 day.
It took two days to get there, but finally I was there. It was my first time to see my
grandma and grandpa. I was so happy to finally see them. I went to different places and visited
different people that I didn’t even know were in my family.
Finally, it was time to rest. I slept really good, but then I heard lots of noise. It was my
grandma, awake at 6:00am cooking and most of my family there waiting for me to go with them
to a surprise they had for me. I was surprised to see what they had for me. It was a trip on the
ocean, in a boat! It was pretty fun. Every morning I woke up, it was always a different trip with
all my family. It was a lot of people in all my trips.
Then that day came, it was time to go back home. I was sad, but at the same time happy
because I was going to see my parents again. It was time to say goodbye to the place where my
parents were born. I said I couldn’t wait to go again. Then I got on the bus sad but happy. It took
two days to get home and I was finally there. Everybody was happy including me.

In Memory of L.B. Daniel
On August 25, 2015 I found out my granddad was in the hospital very ill. When my mom
told me that night I was sad and I told my mom I wanted to go see him. We spent the night. My
mom went to get us something to eat. I didn’t eat for 2 days. Later on that week the doctor said
that they had to give him some fluids. The night around 4a.m. the doctor told me he had passed
away. All I could think of is all the memories we had together. I didn’t cry until after the funeral.
I was so mad, but sad at the same time. When I got back home, I was depressed for a whole
week. I still go visit my granddad’s grave sometimes. He died August 30, 2015. In memory of
L.B. Daniel.

My Dog
My dog Dimmond is bad. She always poops in the back yard. You have to pick it up.
EWW! You have to force her to take a bath. One day we got a dog trainer for Dimmond. She
taught us the stuff that we want Dimmond to do. By the next day Dimmond listened to us! The
trainer told us what to look for when Dimmond has to use the restroom. And every time we want
her to take a bath she doesn’t fight us anymore. I feel good about my dog Dimmond because she
does what we tell her.

Haunted House
Have you ever lived in a haunted house? I have! Now let me tell you about it. Last year I
lived in a haunted house.
My mom had a nightmare about us. She thought we were walking around her room but
when she woke up she went to go check on us and we were all asleep.
Also I had a nightmare that my mom was a demon and she was going to kill me so I
woke up and I slept in my mom’s bed with her.
Another fact was my sister heard somebody call her name and it came from the restroom.
Also my mom had another dream that my step dad had a demon face when she was trying
to scream out his name. But she couldn’t so she tried to wake him up by shaking him, but she
couldn’t move either.
Also my brother was bad at school. So this ghost man would sit on his door in the corner
at night and try to get to him. When it happened, he would run and sleep with us but the man
would still follow him.
Another statement was when my sister was sleeping on the floor she would always see
eyeballs staring at her. She got scared and told us to sleep on the floor with her.

A Lesson I Learned
A lesson I learned is to keep my little sister safe because I am a big brother to her. My
mom and dad expect me and my brother Tievin, to protect her and watch her at all times.
Once in the mall me and my sister were sitting my ourselves waiting for my mom and
dad to help my brother look for clothes. My sister was bored so she went looking for them and
got lost.
So thirty minutes later we notice that she was lost and we were so scared. We rushed to
the front to call and see where she was. That was my lesson learned.
