    We would like to inform you of the release of the script (Ver. 1.00) for upgrading the OS Data F/W applied to a newsecurity HDD.

    1. Release Content

    The script (Ver. 1.00) to upgrade the system F/W (OS Data) has been released.

    This script is required when a HDD is replaced with a new security one in the field.

    2. Cases which require upgrading of the system F/W (OS Data) with this script

    If the status exists as shown below when the HDD or SYS board is replaced, upgrading of the system F/W (OS Data)with this script is required.

    2-1. When the HDD is replaced

    5. Upgrade procedures

    Perform the following steps from 1) to 25) when the HDD is replaced with a new security one.- Steps from 1) to 6): OS upgrading with this script- Steps from 7) to 25): Same procedures as the current ones for system software upgrading performed after the HDDreplacement

    When the SYS board is replaced, follow the current procedures while supplanting the steps for firmware upgradingwith the ones from 1) to 6) shown below.For data backup before replacing the HDD (if possible), data restoring after replacing the HDD or each setting, refer to

    the HDD replacement procedure in the Service Manual.

    1) Connect the USB device to the equipment. Turn the power ON while pressing the [5] and [9] buttonssimultaneously.* If the [4] button is mistakenly pressed instead of [5], an F106_5 error will occur.In this case, turn the power OFF and then reattempt step 1.

    2) The AUTHENTICATION screen appears. Press [OK] on the touch panel.* If a password has been set, enter it before pressing [OK].

    3) The Firmware Update Mode screen appears.* If not, check the file configuration in the USB device and reattempt the procedures from step 1.

    Notes:1. If the system firmware version of the equipment is later than the one listed in "2. Cases which require upgrading ofthe system F/W (OS Data) with this script", the SRAM Data Cloning Mode screen appears instead of the FirmwareUpdate Mode screen. In this case, perform the normal steps to upgrade the system firmware after the HDD isreplaced.2. An incorrect term is displayed at the upper left on the SRAM Data Cloning Mode screen for the following models.

    - Model namee-STUDIO4540C Seriese-STUDIO456(506) Seriese-STUDIO856 Seriese-STUDIO306LPIncorrect term: Firmware Update ModeCorrect term: SRAM Data Cloning ModeIn this screen, the menu indicated in step 4 is not displayed and "Update Mode: 59 Mode" is displayed at the upperright. This problem will be corrected in L4.73 or later.

    4) While only "1. SYSTEM FIRMWARE (OS Data)" is selected, press the [START] button on the control panel.("=>" is indicated on the left side of "1. SYSTEM FIRMWARE (OS Data)".)* Be sure not to select "4. SYSTEM SOFTWARE (HD Data)".If by chance it is selected, press the [4] button. Once it becomes unselected, "=>" will disappear from its left side.

    5) When approx. 2 minutes have passed, "Update successfully completed" appears on the touch panel.* If upgrading fails, reattempt the procedures from step 1.

    6) Shut down the equipment.

    == The following procedures are applied only when the HDD is replaced. (They are not necessary at the time of SYSboard replacement) ==

    7) Turn the power ON while pressing the [3] and [CLEAR] buttons simultaneously.

    8) The AUTHENTICATION screen appears. Press [OK] on the touch panel.* If a password has been set, enter it before pressing [OK].

    9) The Firmware Assist Mode screen appears.* If not, reattempt the procedures from step 7.

    10) While "3. Format HDD" is selected, press the [START] button on the control panel.("=>" is indicated on the left side of "3. Format HDD".)

    11) Press again the [START] button on the control panel when the confirmation screen appears.

    12) After approx. 2 minutes have passed, "Operation Complete" appears on the touch panel.

    * If upgrading fails, reattempt the procedures from step 7.

    13) Shut down the equipment.

    14) Turn the power ON while pressing the [3] and [CLEAR] buttons simultaneously.

    15) The AUTHENTICATION screen appears. Press [OK] on the touch panel.* If a password has been set, enter it before pressing [OK].

    16) The Firmware Assist Mode screen appears.* If not, reattempt the procedures from step 14.

    17) While "8.Clear Service Tech Password" is selected, press the [START] button on the control panel.

    18) "Reset Complete" appears on the touch panel.

    19) Shut down the equipment..

    20) Turn the power ON while pressing the [4] and [9] buttons simultaneously.

    21) The AUTHENTICATION screen appears. Press [OK] on the touch panel.

    22) The Firmware Update Mode screen appears.* If not, reattempt the procedures from step 20.

    23) While "4. SYSTEM SOFTWARE (HD Data)" is selected ("=>" is indicated.), press the [START] button on thecontrol panel.* In this time, other firmware does not need to be selected; however, there is no problem if it is selected.

    24) After approx. 7 minutes have passed, "Update successfully completed" appears on the touch panel.* If upgrading fails, reattempt the procedures from step 20.

    25) Shut down the equipment and remove the USB device.

    Precautions

    Do not store this script into a USB device used for data cloning of SRAM if it is performed in equipment whose systemF/W (OS Data) version is the following one or earlier.If you do so, the SRAM cloning mode will not start.
