G-Wagen, W463, Water in Front Footwell Repair
If the internal polythene sheet has become dis-attached from
the door surround, water will enter the car

Gently remove caps from lower part of door handle. (x2)

Use a flat-blade screwdriver from the rear and pull with fingers from the front

Slide door-release surround in the direction of the rear of the car to release

Remove small screw. Do not lose the cup-washer
Remove the other small screw. Do not lose the cup-washer

Unscrew the 2 large Philips screws which retain the door handle
Carefully remove the wood trim by levering it gently, directly outwards. Behind it lies the 3rd screw for the door handle. Remove it.
The wood trim is held by two fragile plastic pins- one at each end. Lever gently with a soft tool

Now, remove the door handle
Remove the storage bin. There are 6x philips screws

Rotate the door catch
Depress the lock-pin

Carefully pull the door-card away from the door, working all the way round. There are several plastic clips that will release when pulled.

Check for any holes in the plastic sheet
Lift the sheet and clean the door surround with white spirit. Chance also to clean the bottom of the door and Waxoyl the cavity

Don’t lose the parts !
Cleaned door.

Apply a continuous bead of silicone sealant to lower part.
Re-affix plastic sheet

Now, replace parts on reverse order.
