We are always in need of good-quality donationsand are so grateful for the goods we receive. Lastyear we sold more than 455,000 donated items inour shops. But, we are facing a significant problem affectingthe whole charity shop sector – disposing ofunsaleable donations. We recycle as many unwanted items as possible,to minimise the amount going to landfill – butdisposal of dirty, torn, incomplete and broken itemscomes with a hefty price tag.
In 2018/19, it cost us at least £22,000 to disposeof unsaleable donations. You can help make a difference by ensuring youonly donate quality items to our shops. Take alook at our guide to donation dos and don’ts,including pictures of real-life donations – andmake your contribution count for hospice care. Thank you.
