Introduction• Google Glass is an augmented reality wearable computer

with a head-mounted display (HMD)that is being developed by Google in the Project Glass .

Development• The Glass project was started "about three years ago"

by an engineer named Babak Parviz.• Glass is being developed by Google X Lab.• Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-

like format hands- free. It can interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands and uses Google's Android operating system.

Future ScopeThe key findings of the research were:• The quality of pictures and video are usable for healthcare

education, reference, and remote consultation.• Tele-consultation is possible—depending on the available

bandwidth—during operative procedures.• A stabillizer should be added to the video function to prevent

choppy transmission when a surgeon looks to screens or colleagues.

• Battery life can be easily extended with the use of an external battery.

• A protocol or checklist displayed on the screen of Glass can be helpful during procedures.
