LATIPAY SOLUTIONS: TERMINAL INTEGRATION
Through Latipay’s
partnership with Verifone
(Eftpos NZ), we now enable
Chinese payments via the
Verifone terminal.
The process is very much
the same as a normal
transaction. The
salesperson enters the
total amount – taps the
Alipay button on the screen
then the customer scans
the QR code generated and
the receipt is printed.
A simple and very familiar
process for sales staff.

Culture awareness, Do’s and Don’ts
❑Many members of Asian cultures have three names, the first usually being the family name. This is important to know when addressing someone. Surnames (Mr., Ms., or the equivalent in the language of the culture) are still frequently used some cultures.
❑Chinese customer rarely say “no” directly. Instead they may say, “Maybe,” or “That could be difficult”, which usually means “no”.
❑Asian cultures are not “touching” cultures, so avoid back patting, putting an arm around someone’s shoulder – it considered back luck when gambling
❑Colors & Numbers - white and black are related to death, although black also symbolizes power. Red represents happiness and good luck. Gold is another auspicious color as it represents wealth. 8 is a ‘lucky’ number; 4 is an ‘‘unlucky’ number.
❑Why Chinese don’t say ‘Thank you’ and ‘Please’ as often as westerners - when you say "please" or "thank you," you are basically creating a barrier between you and whomever you are speaking to. The standard responses from strangers are a funny look, followed by, "Don't be so polite," or "Just doing my job!”. Friends are more direct, and sometimes people get offended: "You are way too polite, and it's creating distance. Real friends don't need to say 'thank you.' "
