FUTURES OF ASIAN CITIES – URBAN PLANNING AND LIFESTYLES IN CHINA AND INDIA 5 ECTS The course deals with the core issues of urban sustainable development in China and India. The cities of China and India face huge challenges as their urban population increases at an exceptional pace. The course addresses the issues of urban planning and changing urban lifestyle and analyses the possibilities for sustainable development with the help of futures research methods. Structure of the course: 1. literature exam, 15.2., 28.2., 11.3. 2. expert lectures, 17.3 and 18.3. 3. scenario report (group work) Organizers: Centre for East Asian Studies and Futures Research Centre, UTU Course objectives: the students will be able to analyze major trends and challenges of sustainable developments in urban China and India. The course will also provide the students general skills in the methods of futures research: how to select futures research targets and methods, apply futures studies methods and conduct futures research.
