Subject: SAE BAJA 2020 project-reg.

A group of 20 students of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering have

participated in SAE Baja Virtual, an ATV building engineering event organised by SAE

(Society of Automotive Engineers) in the month of July 2019.

Our team had qualified for SAE BAJA MAIN EVENT at Chitkara University,

Chandigarh. This event was held on March 5th to gth, 2020.

We had designed and fabricate the entire vehicle as per the requirements of SAE Baja. We

acquired various resources and infrastructure for the project. The detailed breakdown of cost for the components is enclosed. Engine and suspension was taken from previous vehicle. But major components like tyres, steering assembly and wheel assembly was either purchased or ordered for the vehicle. Also a new drive-train was fabricated along with roll cage and

aesthetics.

The total cost of the project was around Rs 4.5 lakhs with an additional cost of Rs 45,000/

towards transportation.

We request you to release a portion of the transportation amount.

2018. I am happy that 16 students from Mechanical, 3 students from Mechatronics and 1 from

E&C of MITE are involved in this vehicle and confident in winning the price. This vehicle has

been developed under the supervision of Mr. Yajnesha P Shettigar. All planning and

implementation details were monitored by him.

The students have requested a financial assistance of 30,000/- towards vehicle transportation to

Jallandhar, Punjab for competition. This project may bring a good name for the department and

karting team of Mangalore, TEAM IMPETUS RACING, consisting of 15 girlsfrom streams like aeronautical, mechanical and electronics. The vehicle isprepared for the event Indian Kart Racing -2017, held in Coimbatore in the

month of December, where team impetus is the only all girls team among a totalof 75 teams from all over the nation. The team is confident of performing well in the event with a designing work which assures the best standardized as well as optimized design possible.

The team has begun its work of preparing the vehicle and is half way done.Till present the team has borne an expense of Rs 1,05,065/- for the registration,pre-virtual round and the various components required. To continue our work

further, we are facing the problem of shortage of money, and we need

approximately 1.5 lakhs to finish our vehicle.

Subject: Release of payment for SAE Baja A group of 30 Mechanical Engineering students have qualified for a

national level ATV building competition, SAE Baja. Our college management has been generous enough to fund for the variousresources required to fabricate the Vehicle. The Mechanical Engineering Dept. and the students involved in the project appreciate the support provided so far.

The team has ordered a CVT (Order No. 6) at a cost of Rs.38160/, the team had quoted an amount of Rs.25000/- initially in their report, but the freight charges increased the expenditure by Rs.13160/ The team also has ordered a steering setup (Order No.09) at a cost of Rs.22000/.The steering setup is being ordered earlier than schedule because they are about to go out of stock soon and not be available for the next few months, well past our deadline. These are the two items which has already been ordered and for which they have to be reimbursed.

The team has designed a gearbox for the vehicle on their own and will need an amount of Rs.65000/- (Order No.7) to fabricate it. This includes the cost for material procurement+ gear profile cutting+ grinding +Fabrication of Splines +Heat Treatment+ Transport Charges. In the initial report they had quoted Rs.70000/- and have cut Rs.5000/-.
