THE FRENCH LYCÉE OF SINGAPORE IN A NUTSHELL

Since 1967, a "small French school abroad" has operated in Singapore, managed by an association of parents. In 1980, a number of French companies provided the funds required to finance the creation of a quality French school in Singapore. Today, the French Lycée of Singapore has close to 2,800 students and over 350 staff. Renovations have been carried out to meet the demand resulting from the success of the institution, and to help accommodate 3,400 students in the heart of the “Ang Mo Kio” area, in a first-class campus of over 54,000 m2.

The primary mission of the French Lycée of Singapore is to facilitate the success of all students, including those with learning difficulties, through the practice of learning excellence. A personalised education and support structures enable achievement of this objective. Each year, the outstanding results demonstrate that the training offered builds on a harmonious balance between a demanding scientific component and a linguistic, literary and cultural component, leveraging the diversity of the students’ nationalities as well as local resources.

OBJECTIVES OF THE FUNDRAISING

Fundraising supports various educational projects, in addition to the formal academic programme in the fields of sports, literature, science and art. Theses are illustrated by sporting or cultural events, providing excellent learning opportunities for students.

Ever since its inception, our institution has committed itself to offering its students a first-class and unique environment, successfully blending the rigour and quality of French education to its own will to make the biggest possible contribution to the flourishing of the student.

The French Lycée of Singapore is also a community and it is ours! In this context, fundraising promotes the integration of disadvantaged students, who are in financial difficulty, in order for them to continue their schooling and take part in the various additional educational projects.

PHILANTHROPIC AREAS Beyond a concept of reading and besides contributing to the acquisition of language proficiency, literature also engages the student’s vision. We are convinced that literature opens the mind, raises awareness to humanity, helps "to see with the heart" and is essential to any kind of responsible political life in the current context of globalisation.

By transforming mystery into challenge, science adds a new dimension to life. And a new dimension opens several paths to self-fulfilment. Science and technology also aim to develop interest in scientific and technical progress. This is why our educational schemes are aligned with an investigative approach that fosters curiosity and creativity.

Art undoubtedly occupies a special place in the heart of contemporary society in which the development of media disrupts the relation to works and creation. Spectators, creators or interpreters, all of our students are encouraged to develop an ability to give meaning to art and to perceive in it human, social and economic challenges, in order to open up to others.

Physical education allows students to develop a sense of effort, risk-taking and perseverance. By putting into action moral and social core values, such as respect for collective rules or respect for self and others, it provides a favourable context for teaching responsibility and autonomy. This is why our sports teams continue to radiate the image of our institution in different environments and countries!

Each year, we welcome in the Lycée several children from families in financial difficulty, who are sometimes subsidised by the French state, primarily for school fees. We set aside a social envelope for disadvantaged students to help them to continue to attend school and various additional educational projects, such as sports trips. Fully respecting our equal opportunity policy, our social envelope is the embodiment of our commitment to deliver excellence for all.

ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

You can contribute in the philanthropic area of your choice, either towards literature, science, art, sports or community, by check, bank transfer or simply online.

We recognise the extraordinary value of a substantial donation, and the French Lycée of Singapore shall be honoured to name an architectural element on campus after the donor, in accordance with the amount. As a result, the architectural sponsorship gives the opportunity to be a part of our institution for life.

The French Lycée of Singapore offers the opportunity to purchase Founder’s Options (“Achat d’Option De Fondateurs, ODF”), securities that confer duties, rights and benefits to companies, such as the right to vote at General Meetings, priority for registration, exemption from advance payment of certain school fees. Particularly interesting for companies whose employees are parents of students in the French Lycée of Singapore, the ODF enables creation of a partnership between business and education.

The French Lycée of Singapore offers to companies the opportunity to sponsor school projects and in return benefit from a range of marketing possibilities depending on the sponsorship contract. Sponsorship provides companies an excellent opportunity to partner with the values and prestige that our institution stands for.

We have put in place programmes for matching gifts in partnership with companies to encourage individuals, employed or not, to contribute financially to the school. A company could, for example, commit to double the donations made by its staff members to enhance the impact of the contributions according to the agreement and partnership contract.

DONOR RECOGNITION

Awards of distinction shall be bestowed to all donors on the basis of cumulative donations per year:

« Bronze Benefactor » : Companies S$ 5,000 + Individuals S$ 500 +

« Silver Benefactor » : Companies S$ 10,000 + Individuals S$ 1,000 +

« Gold Benefactor » : Companies S$ 50,000 + Individuals S$ 7,500 +

« Platinum Benefactor » : Companies S$ 150,000 + Individuals S$ 15,000 +

Ever since the beginning, our donors are investing in the development of our institution, in the education and the future of children. In order to recognise your generosity and with the explicit consent of the donor, an electronic register accessible on the Internet lists all donors of the French Lycée of Singapore.

Above a certain amount of donation, S$ 1,000 for individuals and S$ 5,000 for companies, a nominative registration is made in “Empreintes”, a commemorative book displayed on the campus to honour all donors who made an outstanding contribution to the French Lycée of Singapore. The registration shall be in accordance with the nomination and reviewed on the basis of cumulative donations.
