Funded Maths and Science recruitment through a DfE approved provider
Quantum Scholars started as a DfE test and learn project with the mission to find and place highly skilled Maths and Science teachers into schools in the South of England. The project was run by two teaching school alliances and the South East of England Maths Hubs. The commercial partner for the recruitment element of the project was initially provided by Academics, a brand of A-Day consultants. Due to the huge success of the project, Quantum Scholars is now a brand in it’s own right and part of the A-Day consultants family of brands. After the success of the initial project, the Quantum Scholars brand successfully tendered to become part of a government framework of providers to find, recruit and provide CPD to overseas Maths and Science teachers. We focus our efforts on recruiting teachers from the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

How does it work?
Ongoing CPD support throughout the
candidates first year
Over the last few years recruitment of STEM subject teachers has become more challenging than ever. This is why the DfE have launched the International Recruitment framework that Quantum Scholars are a part of.
The following benefits are available when hiring candidates from Quantum Scholars:
£4,000 of funding towards the
recruitment fee
A free legal support
consultation with a qualified visa solicitor
to help your school navigate
sponsorship
A 5 day induction into teaching in England for all candidates placed
under the scheme, including input from the NCETM and the Institute of Physics
(IoP).
Entry for the candidate into an MSc
in Education at the University of
Southampton
Funded Recruitment
Quantum Scholars are able to provide a £4,000 DfE contribution toward the recruitment fee for an overseas Maths or Science Teacher, meaning this is the most cost effective way to recruit international Maths or Science teachers.
A worked example would be the following;
Teacher Salary @ M3 (outside of London) = £26,716
Our fee at 20% of first year salary = £5,343 Contribution from the DfE = £4,000
Final recruitment fee to the school = £1,343
One of the off putting factors of overseas recruitment is the complications of obtaining a sponsors licence and sponsoring a candidate. We recognise how difficult this process can be. Quantum Scholars cannot legally provide you with visa advice. However as a Quantum Scholars client you will be provided with a free legal support consultation with a qualified visa solicitor to help your school navigate sponsorship. Quantum Scholars work in partnership with GBS Immigration who are licensed to provided visa advice to schools and candidates. You will also be provided with easy to follow “how to” guides to help you with the ongoing process of the visa. Since we have introduced this element of our service it has been highly successful and all schools who have followed the advice have successfully navigated the process. The vast majority of Quantum Scholars teachers have been hired through the sponsorship process and as a result this has made the programme highly successful.
Visa and Legal Support
Training and Induction for candidates
One of the most exceptional benefits of hiring a Quantum Scholar is the in-depth training they will receive during the CPD week prior to school starting. They will be picked up by taxi from the airport and taken straight to the University of Roehampton in London where the training takes place. All accommodation is paid for along with the taxi. The training is delivered by nationally renowned speakers who will help candidates get to grips with the very latest maths and physics pedagogy. This is led by the National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (NCETM) and the Institute for Physics (IoP). Candidates are also coached on behaviour management from an SEMH expert and receive training on what to expect from an Ofsted inspection. Candidates will also receive ongoing CPD opportunities plus the first year of an online MSc in Education funded by the programme and delivered through the University of Southampton.
