x-intercepts (zero) Puntos de corte con el eje x
y-intercepts Puntos de corte con el eje y
Stationary points Puntos críticos (puntos con gradiente o
pendiente 0) Punto crítico es un termino
m´as general. No es exactamente lo
mismo que stationary point, pero si muy
semejante para 3º de la ESO
Minimum (troughs) Mínimo
Maximum (humps) Máximo
Local maximun maximal extremum (maximal turning point or relative maximum)
Máximo relativo
Local minimum minimal extremum (minimal turning point or relative minimum)
Mínimo relativo
Greatest value Mayor valor de la función (puede
coincidir o no con un máximo. Si
coincide, en este caso el máximo no se
llama relativo sino que se llama máximo
absoluto)
Least value Menor valor de la función (puede
coincidir o no con un mínimo. Si coincide,
en este caso el mínimo no se llama
relativo sino que se llama mínimo
absoluto)
Continuous function Función continúa
Vertex En las parábolas, al punto donde está el
mínimo o máximo se le llama vértice.
Axis of symmetry En las parábolas, a la línea vertical que
pasa por el vértice, se le llama eje de
simetría
Increasing function Función creciente (siempre de izquierda a
derecha de la gráfica, comprobar si la y
crece)
Decreasing function Función decreciente (siempre de izquierda
a derecha de la gráfica, ver si la y decrece)
Vertical step (y-step) Tasa de variación

Continuous functions: An intuitive though imprecise (and inexact) idea of continuity is given by the common
statement that a continuous function is a function whose graph can be drawn without
