How much of mix and water is need to be mixed if your mum

ask you to prepare 24 pancakes for breakfast?

Before begin please download your virtual chemistry lab for this

activity.

Jane carried out a titration to neutralize 25ml of Sodium

Hydroxide solution with the concentration of 1mol/dm3 (1M)

using hydrochloric acid with the same concentration. What is

the volume of acid needed for a complete titration?

First, predict Jane’s answer than verify your prediction using

virtual chemistry lab.

Chemical Equation:

Predicted answer:

Finding from the virtual chemistry lab:

What would be the volume of acid required if Sulphuric Acid is

used for titration in the place of hydrochloric acid?

Are there any difference in the volume of acid you predicted

and the one you obtained from the virtual chemistry lab? If yes,

can you explain why?

Rewrite the equation for both the titration along with thevolume of acids and alkalis

Titration 1: ________________________________________________

Titration 2: ________________________________________________

Is there any difference in the volume of acids used in both

experiments?

If yes, please explain what causes the difference in the volume

of acids used?

If no, please explain why there is no difference in the volume of

acids used?

Let’s say you are given another sample of acid with the formula

H3X. How much acid will be needed to neutralize the same

amount of sodium hydroxide used in the initial titration?

Guidelines on using the virtual lab:

1) First download the virtual chemistry lab from the website

below:

http://www.chemcollective.org/applets/vlab3dBeta.php

2) Choose the correct stock solution from the stock room

3) Choose appropriate apparatus from the tools section andplace them on the work bench

4) Be sure to remove the tools once u had used them and

only leave what is needed for the titration on the work

bench.

5) For this activity you will need HCI 1M, NaOH 1M and

phenolphthalein as the indicator. You may use other

indicators if you are familiar with them.
