New, exciting, awesome camp sessions await your child this summer at MMI Preparatory School in Freeland!Summer is on its way, so start planning today to make your child’s break enjoyable and educational at the same time. Join MMI’s outstanding faculty, Sciensational Camps and Box of Light for a unique summer experience.
All camps are $150 for the week. Campers staying all day should bring a bag lunch and will be supervised over the lunch break. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.

Asian Art CampTime: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 9 - 15Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Mrs. Christina Spencer Price: $150
This Chinese Mandarin immersion and Asian Art experience is designed to give campers the opportunity to learn some Mandarin while participating in culturally-rich activities such as drawing, brush painting, calligraphy, lantern making and kite making. Each camper will get personalized instruction and care. Campers will develop cultural awareness and heighten their knowledge of global communities through fun, interactive lessons and activities.

Like to laugh? Silly kids only for this MMI Summer Camp! Campers will produce and perform amusing plays based on classic storybook tales such as Snow White, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, and The Three Little Pigs. The children will participate in creating dialogue, props, scenery and costumes. Our camp pledge is fun, fun, fun for all Storybook campers! Families are invited on the last day of camp to be audience members for our ‘Big Time Production!’

Flavors of Asia Cooking Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 9 - 15Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Mrs. Christina Spencer Price: $150
Come explore the flavors of Asia as you help make various authentic dishes using fun ingredients. Each day, campers will work with different ingredients to make a dish for sharing. Along the way, they’ll learn about traditional cooking techniques, flavors, and food meaning. From soup to spring rolls and stir fry, campers will get a true taste of Asia during this camp! Campers will not be using knives or stoves.
Super Summer Study Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 10 - 15Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Mrs. Madison Below Price: $150
Learning valuable study skills can improve academics and reduce stress. Using a mix of interactive lessons, fun games, and independent work, students will be improving their self-esteem while gaining valuable lifetime learning skills. Campers will discover the methodology of proper study habits while boosting their focus prior to the upcoming school year in an encouraging, dynamic environment. They will practice note-taking, organizational, time-management, goal-setting, writing, and reading skills. By encouraging and reinforcing study techniques over the summer, students will gain the critical ingredients for success in the classroom and beyond! Get ready to explore the messy side of science in this fun-filled Ooey Gooey Science camp! Make your own slime and oobleck. Roll up your sleeves, have fun, and learn some cool science experiments.

Build your own interchangeable robot to take home with four unique modes. It is truly a four-in-one motorized robot kit. Learn how the different gears work as you are building. You will be building the Cricket--a joy on six legs. Build the Beast. It is a master of bi-pedal movement. You better not get in its way! You will also build the Trailer--the little engine that could move forward thanks to its motorized transmission. Finally, the best of all, Grandpa-Bot Robot. It has huge eyes and is everyone’s favorite bobble-headed, gear-driven family member. It is easy transforming between the four modes. Gain confidence, self-esteem, and celebrate as you are the architect that built it. Plus, have fun building a wide range of additional robotic designs with the Robotic Building System--Sumo wrestling matches, races, and much more. (Robots built in this portion of the workshop are not taken home.)
Amazing 4-in-1 Robot Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 6 - 10Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Sciensational Workshops Price: $150
Work with an advanced three-dimensional construction kit that is yours to keep and take home. Design and build simple or complex models of a vehicle, a robot or buildings. You will also get your own 3-volt geared motor to power up a moveable Radar Surveyor. Learn the many ways you can make your motor run. Hands-on is the only way, so prepare to build from directions and from your own imagination!

Bring your love of sketching and grow your drawing skills! In this camp you will learn to see like an artist and improve your artistic confidence. Learn about, and enjoy working with, a variety of drawing media, both dry and wet. Drawing II camp will expand on these explorations.

Attention all would-be artists who have an interest in learning how to decorate cakes and cupcakes like a pro, this cake decorating camp will give you beginner skills in piping, icing, leveling and making fondant sculptures. All campers will get their very own cake decorating kit to keep, and take home a decorated desert at the end of the week. It’s sure to be a sweet week!

Make an inanimate world come to life as you use Legos, clay and other found objects to create stop motion, animated films. Learn stop motion filmmaking including adding sounds, credits, and putting the finishing polish on your film until it shines. This camp is great for those who love Legos, art, and want to create films!
Lego Maniacs/Claymation Camp Time: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 7 - 14Class Size: 10 Min./15 Max. Instructor: Box of Light Price: $150
Calling all mutants and superheroes! Our way of life is threatened and only you can save the day. Learn to create special effects, work with a green screen, and film and safely choreograph a fight scene. Develop your superhero character, choose your superpower, film, edit, and perform. This is a film camp where you will do it all.

Expand your Minecraft skills beyond vanilla! Work at your own pace and hang with your Minecraft tribe. Learn how to install mods, build maps, create cool structures with other Minecraft fanatics, and have more than a few Minecraft adventures. This camp is designed around your skills and desires. The Star Wars Texture pack? WE have it! Not enough items? (Parents: this is a popular mod) No problem. Just need to learn the basics, like how to survive the night? We can help with that too. Minecrafters will have a great time at this camp!

We’ll take you through the process used to create computer-generated films you see in theaters. You will write a script, define characters, record voiceovers, create your digital world using computer software (this is where the Minecraft comes in!), record the action (while playing Minecraft), score the film, and add the credits. Wow!

Campers will be immersed in beginner Spanish while learning to make a colorful Piñata using hands-on techniques. The Piñata is yours to keep! Campers will also play traditional Spanish games and learn basic Spanish. Olé!

What improves our confidence as an artist? Knowing how to use drawing media effectively, practicing techniques and learning to look at the world the way artists do. Bring your love of drawing to this camp and enjoy a week of creativity. We will work with both black and white and color. While this camp expands on the themes from Drawing I, it is not a pre-requisite.

Learn to make batteries from fruits and/or potatoes. Make a fantastic crystal tree. Work with invisible ink. See the happy and sad balls. Work with our powerful magnets. Look at our prepared slides using our microscopes. Learn about the different types of rocks and minerals from our interesting rock and mineral collection. Be a chemical detective. Make glob from glue. Use paper chromatography to separate colors. Make dirty pennies turn clean and clean pennies turn green. Everything will be explained to you so you can go home having learned some interesting science. Hands-on science is the best way to learn!

Flavors of Spain Cooking Camp Time: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 9 - 15 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Señora Syra Dewar Price: $150
Campers go on a tasty journey of typical Spanish dishes while being immersed in the Spanish language. Gain skills in beginner Spanish and leave with an introductory knowledge of Spanish dishes such as paella valenciana, tapas, tortilla de patata, or pan tomaca.
Each child will partake in a simulated fossil excavation, uncovering the different bones of a dinosaur. Each child will then assemble the bones to form a completed 3-dimensional dinosaur to be taken home. We will bring the excavation tools, labels, and specimen bags. We will use our geological time and fossil charts. You will make a plaster fossil replica of an ammonite, Tyrannosaurus rex tooth or choose from other moulds. You’ll identify 20-million-year-old shark’s teeth and see other fossil replicas such as a cave bear tooth, an ammonite, a Tyrannosaurus rex tooth, or a dinosaur egg. See and work with our rock and mineral collection. Be a rock hound and identify different rocks and minerals. See and hold our giant pumice rock specimen - it’s from Mount St. Helens.

Experiment, have fun and take home your own 3D Illumination Electronic Kit; the first of its kind, and it’s fantastic! There will be exciting light effects. See a three-color light tunnel. Activities include building your own security house. No one will enter as the alarm sounds and color LED flashes. Play button ball or hole ball. Build a projector that will show six cool images. Use your 3D color glasses. Build a house with lights. This is STEM!
Get ready to build and play your own arcade games and more. You will have at your disposal resistors, switches, wires, LED diodes, transistors and more. Do not get overwhelmed, building with electronics is fun! You will program a spinning light fan to display different sayings. Build and play a Home Run Derby game. See who gets the most home runs before getting 10 outs. A winning song will cheer. Build circuits to test your memory. Build an electronic circuit that plays the card game 21. You can learn to program the circuit board to emit different funky sounds. Play with the disco ball, sirens, or a light show. Learn the effects of the different electronic components. Learn what amps, volts, resistance, and power are. This is STEM!

Get ready to get messy! Messy Art camp is for boys and girls who want to celebrate getting messy while creating one-of-a-kind artwork and having a blast. Campers use a variety of art mediums such as watercolors, acrylic paints, pastels, shaving cream, water balloons, and lots more! Messy Art Camp promises to be gloopy, gloppy, and awesomely messy. Campers need to be dressed in clothes and shoes that they don’t mind getting dirty.
