The Newsletter of Fulwell Infant School Academy Mrs Angus’s message... Number 4 4th November 2016 Dear parents, We sincerely hope all our families enjoyed the half term break. The children have returned to school and continued to work hard and to enjoy their tasks and their play. We received a letter from the secretary of state for schools and standards (Nick Gibb) this week, congratulating the staff and children on the standards achieved in the year 1 phonics tests last summer. We also were advised this week that we have been recognised as a National Support School—we are very proud of both these achievements. As parents are aware, we are looking to become a Multi Academy Trust and are looking to develop this in the coming months. We believe that this will offer many opportunities for staff and children to share expertise and skills for the benefit of children at Fulwell Infants and also within a school that we may partner. Whilst this is unlikely to happen quickly, if we are moving towards establishing a partnership in future months, this information will be shared with you. My thanks to our wonderful Mum’s who led a Diwali assembly for all children in school on Wednesday. This offered the children the opportunity of observing the beautiful costumes, finding out many facts about Diwali and being able to ask many questions. Next week sees our ‘settling in’ parent meetings. Appointments are 5 minutes only. Parents who may require a longer appointment are asked to make an appointment with their class teacher on a different day. Books will be available in March, following written reports just after February half term. We look forward to meeting parents then. We learnt about the important Indian festival of Diwali when 5 of our mums came to assembly to talk to us. Thank you. We were enthralled and loved your costumes and Maanashi’s dancing.

Mrs Angus’s message... Number 4

4th November 2016

Dear parents,

We sincerely hope all our families enjoyed the half term break. The children have returned to school and

continued to work hard and to enjoy their tasks and their play.

We received a letter from the secretary of state for schools and standards (Nick Gibb) this week,

congratulating the staff and children on the standards achieved in the year 1 phonics tests last summer.

We also were advised this week that we have been recognised as a National Support School—we are very

proud of both these achievements.

As parents are aware, we are looking to become a Multi Academy Trust and are looking to develop this in

the coming months. We believe that this will offer many opportunities for staff and children to share

expertise and skills for the benefit of children at Fulwell Infants and also within a school that we may

partner. Whilst this is unlikely to happen quickly, if we are moving towards establishing a partnership in

future months, this information will be shared with you.

My thanks to our wonderful Mum’s who led a Diwali assembly for all children in school on Wednesday.

This offered the children the opportunity of observing the beautiful costumes, finding out many facts

about Diwali and being able to ask many questions.

Next week sees our ‘settling in’ parent meetings. Appointments are 5 minutes only. Parents who may

require a longer appointment are asked to make an appointment with their class teacher on a different

day. Books will be available in March, following written reports just after February

half term. We look forward to meeting parents then.

We learnt about the important Indian festival of Diwali when

5 of our mums came to assembly to talk to us. Thank you. We

were enthralled and loved your costumes and Maanashi’s

dancing.

Monday saw our school become a VERY scary place

indeed… Can you spot who are in the

photographs below?

SOFIA News Dressing up day - We raised £171 from your generous donations on Monday. This is a great

start to our playground renewal fund. THANK YOU!!

Nativity Costume Swap: This year we are trialling a recycling of nativity costumes to raise more for the playground

fund. This is how it works:

Please donate nativity outfits you no longer need by Friday 11th November.

If you want to buy a costume at the bargain price of £3, give your name, mobile number,

child's age and the type of costume you would like to buy to your class teacher.

Your request will be processed on a first come, first served basis by Friday 18th November. If

you have not heard by then, sorry, we could not match your costume request. This gives you

plenty of time to get a costume before the Mon 28 Nov deadline when they need to be in

school.

This is a great way to help the school, clear out your cupboards, and hopefully get a bargain at

the same time.

Christmas Raffle: We have some great prizes this year - find out more when you receive your tickets in late No-

vember. Thank you as ever for your generous support.
