“As I get ready for my retirement in July 2016, I thank God and theMission for this journey of life. Though I had many trials, I continuedto keep my faith in difficult times of my life and trusted the Lord!

The hymn, “The Lord is my shepherd and there is nothing I shallwant” kept me motivated and going. Born in 1956, I belong to amiddle class family with two brothers and four sisters. I graduatedfrom Mohulpahari Christian Hospital in nursing. Before starting mynursing profession, I had the desire to serve people. I valued mycalling for working for the needy. My friends were governmentemployees, but I joined The Leprosy Mission Hospital at Saldhoha(Jharkhand). In 2006, my transfer to TLM Muzaffarpur Hospitalwas one of the biggest and toughest decisions of life. I had to leavemy husband, daughter and my son, who is mentally challenged,and move alone to Muzaffarpur. It was not easy, life was verydifficult, but yes, my Lord was my “Jehovah-jireh, my provider!”God has always been very kind to me and He blessed my daughterwith a happy married life in 2010 and helped my husband get hisvolunteer retirement (VRS), in 2002.

As l look back at the journey of 30 years in the Mission, it is indeed ablessing. I thank God that even during difficult situations, Heprovided me a job to support my family. As a nurse working with theMission, it has made an impact on me and others, and I pray thefuture brings even greater possibilities for nurses to serve in theMission.

After my retirement, I would be able to spend more time with myson. He needs my care and attention to do the basic chores. As Ifinish my tenure with the mission, kindly keep me and my family inyour prayers. I'll great miss the love and support I got in theMission!

INCLUSIVE HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES (IHDID) PROJECT

Praise God for:

• The successful advocacy and empowerment training for 32 DPO leaders, training on organic farming for 16

TLMTI staff and training on PRA arranged by CBM for their partners from different part of India.

• The summer camp for children with disabilities at Shegaon, where 44 children and their parents participated.

• Inauguration of ‘Saksham,’ a book on government orders for empowerment of people with disabilities, by CBM

team at Kothara on April 23.

• Mr Suresh Dhondge who received Impact Award from Sambodhi in the category of Inclusive Finance &

Livelihoods on April 22.

Pray for:

• Access audit of 26 public buildings of Nashik city from May 2 to 13.

• Sensitisation programme on organic farming at 75 villages this month.

Praise God for:

• The staff and the work at Stanley Browne Research Laboratory and the grant sanctioned for the new project on

transmission of leprosy.

• The staff working in the LRI project, as the field activities have started. Pray that God will give them the wisdom

for implementing the project. Pray for their safety as they travel around their areas for the project activities.

Pray for:

• Research and Training work of TLMTI, that in spite of the severe shortage of funds we will be able carry out our

plans and achieve our goals.

TLM VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE, NASHIK

Praise God for:

• The successful completion of inspection by DVET

• The donors who are generous and contributing

to the VTC

• Stores‐in‐charge and girls hostel warden, who

have newly joined the VTC.

Pray for:

• There is acute water shortage in Nashik and we

are finding it difficult to manage. At present we

are buying water which is costing Rs 1,000 per

day. We have made two bore‐wells with

donation from alumnus, Kubendran, but there

was no water. Pray that it rains so that water

problem is solved and pray that we get water

from new bore‐well we are planning to dig.

• The new staff to adjust to the new environment.

• QCI inspections planned during the first week of May. Pray that the inspections go on smoothly and the re‐

affiliation process gets completed.

• Success of the income generation activities through the new machines in the printing dept.

TLM SHAHDARA HOSPITAL

Praise God for:

• ‘The World Women’s Day’ celebrated on March 8.. With the help of hospital & CIU staff several women from

leprosy background could participate in a big women’s rally held at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. It was a great

experience for them as they got an opportunity to interact with other women’s group and express their

solidarity with them.

• Successfully training on book keeping and documentation

for all active SHG members.

Pray for:

• Children from leprosy colonies who are seeking

admissions for further studies.

• Ram Janam, suffering from reaction with ulcer, he is also

facing problems with his family due to his nature of

sickness.

TLM PURULIA HOSPITAL

Praise God for:

• The successful staff retreat held on April 2. Rev Joshua, Chaplain, Kolkata AG Hospital was the speaker.

• Dr Noel Franklin, who has joined our hospital as a junior doctor. Pray that he settles well at Purulia.

• Albert and Sumi (from Tamil Nadu) both joined the hospital as staff nurses.

• Community Volunteer Training in Basic Eye Screening: Balram Singh and Hemanta Hembrom from Ajyodhya Hills

(our community outreach clinic) had undergone training in basic eye screening from April 18 to 30.

• The successful RCS camp held from April 20 to 22. About 28 patients had undergone surgery. Pray for their

recovery.

Pray for:

• Short Term training in ulcer dressing. TLM Purulia, Suren Singh and Subash Barik from Nav Jagrat Manav

Samaj, an NGO from Jamshedpur, are undergoing ulcer dressing training for one month. Pray that they will

learn well and utilise their skills for the colony patients.

• Pray that EMAMI group who committed to sponsor RCS will reimburse the money for the RCS conducted in

2015. The lists and documents have been submitted to KOLKATA GIVES.

• Mr Duke Charles. He worked for three years with us and has gone for B.Sc. Nursing to CMC Vellore.

• Janaki Ruidas, Biswa Paramanik, Nadim Hawari, Jamu Roy, patients on Thalidomide for Type 2 Reaction. Pray

for healing and quick recovery.

Praise God for:

• The successful RCS camp in the first week of April. 34 patients were benefited

• Release of long pending government grant

• The order for 2,400 MCR footwear received from government PHC's.

• The visibility of the hospital and people are coming forward to use the facilities for functions and meetings.

• Government support in field activities and for providing medicines (general and leprosy).

• The job opportunities in garment industry through the project intervention.

Pray for:

• For Google project started at Miraj. Pray that the people respond positively and use the facilities.

• For successful visit of Sr Program Manager to Disability Commissioner’s Office at Pune for new project

proposals.

• The field staff and patients to cope with the increasing temperature.

• Ms Sundar Shankar Ramtake, who will be retiring in May after 32 years of service in the Mission.

• The RCS camp planned from June 4 to 6.

• Shoe department staff working hard to meet the government order.

• Staff joining the Google project for their quick adjustment to the new environment.

• Two new areas selected for CBVT course planned in coordination with VTC, Nashik.

• Inpatients, Ms Akatai Bote and Ms Asha Jakhass Mane, admitted for management of complicated ulcer; Ms

Bademaheboob for reaction and neuritis; Mr Dagdu Lad and Baburao Chougale for old‐age problems; patients

• Md. Tanveer, who got spinal injury (also steroid‐dependent) and is unable to sit or walk. He needs God’s

blessings and healing touch for quick recovery.

• We completed 4 months of this year and for His help

during those months and pray for this month.

• The training on health education: child care and ANC

for ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers held on

March 29. 40 participants were benefited.

• The three‐day training program in organic farming for

TLM staff from different units (April 6 to 8) in which

16 staff participated.

• Annual Health check‐up done for 2,336 sponsored children of World Vision in Melghat area by Kothara medical

team in March and April.

• The two days fruitful visit of Sis. Purna (Nursing Coordinator) to Kothara on April 7 and 8.

• Good results of post operative exercises for RCS patients.

• Order for 400 MCR footwear from ADHS, Nagpur. Pray that the hospital will be able to complete the order in

time.

Pray for:

• Planning of leprosy Sunday in various churches in May.

• Need of a physiotherapist for the hospital.
