AGAT Laboratories is pleased to introduce Fugitive Emissions as the latest service that has been added to the Air Quality Monitoring Division. With the extensive expertise that AGAT Laboratories holds in dealing with other streams of air testing, we are well positioned to work with our clients to provide reasonable and efficient solutions to this important issue.
Using our state-of-the art FLIR cameras, we can assist preventative maintenance efforts and detect leaks in real-time in all manner of pipes and connections, at a wide variety of facilities. Thousands of components can be scanned in one shift, and it is a valuable tool to help to increase workplace safety, while also improving your bottom line, by helping to identify costly leaks. Using the latest software, AGAT Laboratories’ field specialists can embed GPS data into the imaging, helping to pinpoint leaks immediately and safely.
Following identification of the leak, AGAT Laboratories’ specialists are trained to quantify the leak accurately using portable flame ionization detectors (FID) or photoionization detector (PID) analyzers, as recommended by USEPA standards. This method can be easily adapted to local standards.

FLIR CameraMore than 80 percent of gas leaks in a facility will occur in less than 1 percent of inspected components. The GF-Series optical gas detection cameras allow
AGAT specialists to find hydrocarbon, natural gas, and SF6 leaks quickly, accurately, and safely without shutting systems down for inspection. The FLIR optical gas imaging cameras provide a number of benefits compared to traditional “sniffers”, because they scan a broader area much more rapidly, and they can see into areas that are difficult to reach with contact measurement tools. Invisible to the naked eye, gas leaks look like smoke on infrared optical gas imaging cameras, making them easy to see.

Gas Leak Detection

is a portable, intrinsically safe, battery-powered instrument designed to determine the rate of gas leakage around various pipefittings, valve packings, and compressor
seals found in natural gas transmission, storage, and compressor facilities. This is accomplished by sampling at a large flow rate (between 5 and 10.5 cfm) to capture all the gas leaking from the component along with a certain amount of air. By accurately measuring the flow rate of the sampling stream and the natural gas concentration within that stream, the gas leak rate can be calculated. The instrument automatically compensates for the different specific gravity values of air and natural gas, thus ensuring accurate flow rate calculations.
High Flow Sampler
The Thermo Scientific TVA-1000B Toxic Vapor Analyzer offers both Flame Ionization Detection (FID) and Photo Ionization Detection (PID). A variety of organic vapors can be measured, by the FID, over a wide dynamic range (0-50,000 ppm). The FID operates by breaking hydrocarbon bonds and
is not limited by a high ionization potential of the molecule. In addition, the FID is unaffected by ambient CO, CO2, or humidity leading to very stable measurements. With PID detection, AGAT specialists can monitor for organic compounds and detect many inorganic compounds simultaneously. Some compounds detected by PID are ammonia, carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride, formaldehyde, and hydrogen sulfide.

AGAT Laboratories can also offer the Gasmet Dx–4030 analyzer, which combines Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, Rhodium-Gold coated sample cell, built-in sample gas pump and signal processing
electronics. The Gasmet Dx-4030 is designed for on-site measurements of different compounds (both organic & inorganic) at low concentrations in ambient air. Typical use areas include industrial hygiene and emergency response situations. Up to 25 concentrations of
gases can be simultaneously monitored at any time. Because of the use of high-end FTIR technology, the calibrations remain very stable; therefore, no span calibrations are needed. Additionally, cross-interferences (e.g. interference from other gases) are automatically compensated in the analysis algorithm during the calculation of results.
Gasmet Dx-4030
MIRAN SapphIReAGAT Laboratories additionally uses the Thermo Scientific MIRAN SapphIRe ambient analyzer that can monitor ambient air in workplace environments to detect the presence of gases. Utilizing a wavelength
generator filter allows accurate and fast wavelength selection. The MIRAN SapphIRe Analyzer contains a single-beam infrared spectrophotometer to specifically and accurately measure many gases. A microcontroller will automatically control the analysis, process the measurement signal, and calculate the absorbance values.
Key Features
▪ Exclusive wavelength generator filter design
▪ Library of up to 121 components
▪ Sensitive for sub-ppm detection
▪ Versatile and upgradable
▪ Lightweight and portable

Tagging and tag maintenance are handled by the leakDAS® mobile edition. Using this system, all component data
fields and pick lists are available in the data logger, allowing for the addition of components in an easy, fast, and accurate manner. Using leakDAS®, AGAT specialists can change regulatory requirements assigned to components, ensuring any applicable regulatory requirements are met. The ability to assign or change certain fields allows software logic in LeakDAS® to process data in accordance with LDAR compliance requirements, permit requirements, Consent Decrees, or company policies.
