FTP

An FTP server provides access to a collection of files.

Each file is identified by a server-defined username and a server-defined pathname.


Anonymous logging

Many servers provide public files under the standard username anonymous.

Most of these servers demand a password, but allow any password that ends with @.

Graphic FTP programs(WsFTP, SSH Secure File Transfer Client)

FTP with browser

FTP in terminal’s window

FTP with e-mail

Open program

Connect to remote host:type host’s name, your user nameand


SSH Secure File Transfer Client

And you are connected!


UploadingTo upload file from your computer to server right click on mouse in the folder you want file upload to.


UploadingFind a file from your computer


UploadingClick on Upload button.

And file is in the server!


To download a fileTo download file from server to your computer right mouse click on the file.


To download a file

Find place, where you want to put the file and click Download

If FTP folder view doesn’t appear

Meny Tools – Internet Options – Advanced –

Allow Folder view

OK and you can see!



Type to command line ftp

ftp archives name



Type user name

(here we log in anonymously)



Type password (you can’t see it)

press Enter



Appears line ftp>here you can write FTP commands like cd folder name to open a folder



or cd and all folders-subfolders

And Enter!



Command successful!



Now command get and file name you want to get



Binary transfer complete!



You can see the README file in home directory
