took up residence anu work at Capron Hall.

)'lARCH 8, 1930. Re'll. and Mrs. J. M. Hess and Rev. and Mrs. C. W ,}filler with their daughters left for Madras and Bombay whence they sailed for America via Europe

on furlough.

MARCH 24, 1930. Rev. and il1rs. B. S. SlofferJeft for Colombo en route to America for furlough, together with their

two children.

APRIL I, 1930. Richard Elrz'dge Dudley, son of Mr. and AIrs.

R. A. Dudley, was born at Kodaikanal.

APRIL 23, 1930. Dr. a1ld 1111's. J. S. Chandler and Miss G. R.

Chandler sailed from Colombo for America.

JUNE ~3, 1930. illr. J. H Lawson arrived from America by way of Colombo. Mrs. Lawson remained in America for another year with their children.

J UL Y 3, 1930. Dr. A. J. Saunders arrived from Australia, Mrs. Saunders and the children remaining in Australia for the present.

JULY 7. 1930. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Lorbeer and thei1' two children

left Madura for America on furlough going via China and Japan.

JUL\' 8, 1930. Re'l'. R. R. Kdtlzall1l left for America. Owing to the political situation in the country the District Magistrate thought it necessary to ask the Mission to dissociate itself from certain acts of Mr. Keithahn. As the result Mr. Keithahn went to America on furlough a few months earlier than he would otherwise have gone.

SEPTEMBER 15, 1930. M'isses Abbe and Genevieve Wallace arrived in Madura from America, Miss Abbe Wallace for a three year appointment and Miss G. Wallace under life appointment. They will take up work ill the Capron flaIl Schools. They are the daug hters of Rev. and Mrs. W W - Wallace of Madura.

OCTOBER 27. 1930. .1I1iss A. Lucile Lee arrived in Madura for work asa nurse in the Women's Hospital. Miss Lee has come out under life appointment.

NOVBMBER 21, 1930. The Laymen's Foreign Mission ., Fact Finding Commission" arrived in Madora for the study of the work here. They spent som~ eight days study­ing the mission institutions and work.

NOVEMBER 27, 1930. jJ{iss Dorothy L. Blanke arrived in Madura from America for work a~ a nurse in the Women's Hospital. She was taken sick on the steamer and was under the doctor's care for some three week.,; after arrival. After a very careful study of the case two Mission doctors and a doctor of the Church of Sweden Mission decided that Miss Blanke cOilld not remain in India for health reasons and therefore ordered her return to America. She left Madura on February 24, 1931. The Mission greatly regrets losing so valuable a worker when we had hoped and prayed for nurses for the women's hospital for so many year~.

DECEMBER 9, 1930. Re'ZI. C. E. Wolsted arrived in Manamadura via the Holy Land and Colombo. Mrs. Wolsted and children are remaining 10 America for another year.

DECEMBER 11,1930. Dr. William Adams Brown of New York together with otaer members of the "Lindsay Com­mission on Higher Education" arrived in Madura tor the study of uur higher educational w'Jrk. The Com­

mission again visited the Mission earlv ill January and are investigating most thoroughly all the problems involved in the work of Christian higher education in India.

JANUARY 2, 1931. Rev. alld Mrs. E. G. NicllOls arrived in

Madura on permanent appointment to the Madura Mission.

JANUARY 14, 1931. Miss lJ/ar,}, T Noyes died at about 5 P.M.

this day. She had had severe illness during her recent furlouf;!'h and came back to India none too strong for the work that lay before her. In many respects it may be said that she laid down her life for the work and for ber friends in India. Her life ha~ made a deep impression upon all those associated with her and for many years she will be remembered as a devoted, efficient and loving Christian.

JANUARY 15, 1931. 1l1rs. A. J. Saunders and daughter Lynda,

arrived from furlough.

APRIL 6, 1931. Miss Joan Van der Spek left Madura. She will be married in Italy to Rev. Edwin F. Irwin. Their home wi1l be in Lusk, \Vyoming.
