Massive to coarsely bedded, CaCO 3 coating on some of the larger clasts. Qf 2+3U East West N75E SE Wall N65E SE Wall Qf 2+3U Qf 3L : Contact with Qf 3U marked by gray brown, pink brown silty sand and coarsely graded pebble conglomerate. Qf 3L varies from coarse, massive, pebbly sand to poorly sorted cobble conglomerate (massive). Qo: Massive, red brown cobble/boulder conglomerate with coarse, gritty poorly sorted red brown sand matrix. Numerous grussified dioritic clasts coated with CaCO 3 . Also characterized by massive pebble conglomerate with coarse sand matrix moderate to weakly cemented. FAULT: N28W/80SW Fault in Qo, no offset of Qf 3L . Fault manifested in Qo by pebble lineation and fracturing, truncation of cobble and sand bed. Fracturing of Qf 3L and Qf 3U extend to ~2' from surface. Inactive fault, does not offset Late Pleistocene unit. FAULT: N20W/85NE ~3" apparent vertical offset of Qf 3U /Qf 3L contact across zone. Extension or lateral movement accounts for Qf 3L 10" keyed into fault zone. Qf 3U soil also downdropped ~6". Potentially active, needs further study. Qo Qf 3L : Contact with Qf 3U marked by gray brown to pink brown silty sand and coarsely graded pebble conglomerate. Qf 3L varies from coarse, massive, pebbly sand to poorly sorted cobble conglomerate (massive). Qf 2 Qf 3U Qf 3L Qo Qf 1 Weak B W , not an A V horizon associated with older surface. Qb surface Qc surface Qf 2 /Qf 3U contact gradational, not distinct. Qf 3U : Light gray brown to slightly reddish brown coarse, well bedded sand and pebble conglomerate. Fracture: No offset observed in Qf 3L . Fracture dies out within Qf 3L at depth. Qf 3U+L Qf 4 Qf 6 : Reddish brown conglomerate with silty very coarse to coarse sandy matrix. Qf 3L Qf 3U : Friable, gravelly sand, poorly bedded, very weak lamellae. A V : 1 - 1.5" thick, 1/4" gray vesicular, 1/2 - 3/4" pink. B W : 10 - 11" thick, yellowish brown secondary silt, silt coated carbonate conglomerate at base of B W . Afu: Fill cap to protect soils. Qf 3U : A V : 1.0", some spots 1.5". B W : 3 - 4" thick, iron oxide staining, minor secondary silt. Colluvium Vertical carbonate pipe, weak. Qaf Qf fan surface soil: A V : 3 - 4", same translocation of clay films, sub-argillic, B T horizon. Qf 6 min: Sandy conglomerate, highly friable and iron oxidized clasts, fining upwards sequence. Well bedded sands, reddish brown silty conglomerate. Late Pleistocene soil and distinct deposit. Likely Qo, possibly some Qf 6 . But the soil is Qf surface age - Qo. Qo Carbonate pipe cut off. Qf 4 or reddish brown colluvium. Fill from previous trench (Hilltop 2004). Qo Qf 4 : Gravelly sand, light yellowish brown (10YR 2/4), dry, medium dense. Very well bedded, open channels, numerous iron oxide lamellae, unit has submembers that show increased reddening and induration with depth. K horizon: Abundant carbonate and silt in conglomerate. Qo Qf 3U+L : 3 members, likely all part of Qf 3 , units are different by increased yellowing and induration, increased lamellae. Qo Qf 4 : Buried soil Late Pleistocene unit. Possible location for soil age of Qf 4 . Qf 5 : Pebble conglomerate, silt-coated clasts. Massive debris flow. Qf 4 : Reddish brown conglomerate with moderately well bedded coarse sand members. Silty very coarse to coarse sandy matrix, vertical carbonate pipes common, horizontal carbonate zones and silt coated zones. Qf 3L : Sandy conglomerate, moderately friable, 1/3 dioritic and 2/3 leucocratic, dioritic not weathered to gruss, iron oxide plus silt laminations along base of open channels. Qo: Abundant carbonate coated boulders. Qf 4 Qf 3L : Unit has submembers that show increased yellowing and induration with depth. Connecting point with FT-2a @ ~ Sta. 700'. Southeast Qb cut terrace surface.
