Speaker : Mr. George S K Leung Advisor, Asia-Pacific The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited George S K Leung is Advisor to the Deputy Chair- man and Chief Executive of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited.His role mainly covers the Bank’s business strategy development and economic affairs for the Asia Pacific region. He is also a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee for Hong Kong. Prior to this appointment in 2005, he was Chief Econo- mist, Greater China region, the post he held since 2000. Mr Leung joined HSBC as Senior Economist in 1994 and was appointed as Head of Economic Research Department in 1996. Mr Leung is a renowned business economist and an influential public policy commentator in the region. He also has a long record of public service, including Chairman of the Financial and Treasury Committee of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC); former Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of HKGCC; and currently Acting Chairman of The Hong Kong Association of Banks. He was also a member of various public bodies, including Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (Hong Kong Commit- tee), Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council, Government Statistics Advisory Board, and PCICB, etc. Mr Leung also serves as non-executive director at the Board of The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Ltd. and a member of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council. He is now an honorary advisor to several public and tertiary institu- tions. Mr Leung obtained his Master of Arts in Economics from The University of Toronto, Canada in 1984. He also holds a MBS degree from The University of Hong Kong.
