Page 1 of 2 FS23 High Expansion (HE) Intumescent Sealant Installation Instructions FS23 HE Intumescent Sealant is used to seal gaps from a minimum of 25 to 50mm around cable trays, cable bunches, metal pipes and plastic pipes in block work walls for a fire rating of up to 4 hours. Used within the FS21 Coated Panel System (50mm thick) fixed to a dry wall construction, the seal provided a 2 hour fire rating with 55-110mm diameter PVC and HDPE pipe. Installation in Masonry Walls (140mm) ! 1) Do not apply the sealant when site temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C as adhesion will be impaired. 2) Remove all loose debris, oil and grease from the joint. Ensure that the joint is clean and dry. 3) Mask the adjacent surfaces to the joint. 4) Cut and friction fit FS21 Panel (50mm thick) between sides of opening and service penetration. 5) Position the Coated Panel in the centre of wall to be used as a backer. Ensure that the backer is a minimum of 40mm back from the face of each side of the wall. 6) Gun the sealant into the aperture to a minimum depth of 40mm on each side of the wall. Evenly apply the sealant in 12.5mm high sweeps. Larger gaps will have to be built up in several applications. 7) Tool off to as smooth finish. 8) Remove masking. Do not apply the sealant if the ambient temperature is below 5°C as adhesion will be impaired. 9) Wash off tools with warm water and soap. Installation in Coated Batts Patrice fixed to Dry Wall 1) Do not apply the sealant when site temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C, as adhesion will be impaired. 2) Remove all loose debris, oil and grease from the joint. Ensure that the joint is clean and dry. 3) Cut a piece of Coated Panel (50mm thick) to ensure a 100mm overlap on to the Gypsum board e.g. in a 150mm x 150mm hole, cut a piece of panel 250mm x 250mm. 4) Cut the piece of coated panel half and scribe around service penetration leaving an annular space of 25mm wide. 5) Gun FS23 HE Intumescent Sealant on to face of board right around the penetration. 6) Push two pieces of panel around service penetration (Patrice style) and use FS23 HE Intumescent Sealant as an adhesive. 7) Fix Coated Panel (50mm thick) through the face of the plasterboard using 75mm long dry wall screws, with steel penny washers. 8) Pack the back of the Coated Panel with 10mm thick mineral wool to leave a cavity of 40mm depth. 9) Gun the sealant into the aperture to a minimum depth of 40mm on each side of the wall. Evenly apply the sealant in 12.5mm high sweeps. Larger gaps will have to be built up in several applications.

FS23 High Expansion (HE) Intumescent Sealant Installation Instructions FS23 HE Intumescent Sealant is used to seal gaps from a minimum of 25 to 50mm around cable trays, cable bunches, metal pipes and plastic pipes in block work walls for a fire rating of up to 4 hours.

Installation in Coated Batts Patrice fixed to Dry Wall

1) Do not apply the sealant when site temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C, as adhesion will be impaired. 2) Remove all loose debris, oil and grease from the joint. Ensure that the joint is clean and dry.

3) Cut a piece of Coated Panel (50mm thick) to ensure a 100mm overlap on to the Gypsum board e.g. in a

150mm x 150mm hole, cut a piece of panel 250mm x 250mm. 4) Cut the piece of coated panel half and scribe around service penetration leaving an annular space of 25mm wide.

5) Gun FS23 HE Intumescent Sealant on to face of board right around the penetration.

6) Push two pieces of panel around service penetration (Patrice style) and use FS23 HE Intumescent Sealant as an

adhesive.
