EPISODE 1| THE SCHOOL’S LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER
LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER OBSERVATION REPORT
School Observed: Bigaa National High School
List of Available Learning Resource in their Library and Computer Center
Available Learning Resource Characteristics and Unique
Capabilities
Teaching Approaches
where the Resource is
Most Useful
1. Print Resource
Magazines
Newspapers
Hand-outs
Textbooks
Latest information from the news, specific and hand-outs are easy to understand.
Students’ mastery of their lessons, inquiry-based approaches, and research-based teaching.
2. Audio Resource
Computers
Over-head Projector
Commonly used for entertainment purposes. It could also be used for the presentation of the reports and discussions.
Innovative way of teaching using the wide application of technology.
3. Non-electronic visual
resource like Globes,
maps
Flashcards
Charts
Mock-ups
Board displays
Models
These resources are good also for display purposes, can be kept for a long time.
Materials are aesthetic and attractive in learning and
teaching process.
2
4. ICT Resources ( i.e.
computer, projector etc.)
Computers
Over-head Projectors
Its application gives the students a global way of learning experiences. Files can be kept for a long period.
Can be used for a larger and quality presentation of reports and other related paper works.
Impression: First of all, the teachers should be aware of the wide application of these learning resources most specially the technology to prepare their lessons. Of course, interest and needs are the main factors to be considered on the part of the students in acquiring and gaining knowledge and skills. These learning resources are helpful but its effectiveness depends on its proper application.
ANALYSIS
1. Were the learning resource/ materials arranged properly according to their
functions and characteristics?
The learning resources and materials are properly arranged.
Accessible for everybody's needs and interests.
2. Do the guidelines and procedures facilitate easy access to the materials by the
teachers? Why? Why not?
Guidelines and procedures are specific. Resources are available as easy to access by
the teachers and learners.
3
3. What are the strengths of this Learning Resource Center?
The computers are available during school days and students can use it for their
research-based assignments, preparation of the hand-outs and any other related
computer-based works.
4. What are its weaknesses?
Some computers are not working and need maintenance.
5. What suggestions can you make?
I suggest that the ICT resources should be given proper care and maintenance
because severe viruses were saved in the computer file system.

REFLECTIONS
1. Which of the materials in the learning resources caught your interest the most?
Why?
I have appreciated all the books and instructional materials found in the library.
The library is CLEAN and well-organized.
2. Which gadgets/materials are you already confident to use/operate?
I am confident in using the computer, e.g. MICROSOFT OFFICE .
I am so much interested things about computer related works and I want to explore more about it because it would be helpful to me in dealing with my teaching works.
3. Which ones do you feel you need to learn about?
5
I want to know more about installation
4. Read an article about your answer in number 3. Paste a copy of the article here.
You will need a computer. Options include:
A Normal Computer: This is strongly recommended. Many installs use a VM in EC2.
Phabricator installs properly and works well on a normal computer.
A Shared Host: This may work, but is not recommended. Many shared hosting
environments have restrictions which prevent some of Phabricator's features from
working. Consider using a normal computer instead.
A SAN Appliance, Network Router, Gaming Console, Raspberry Pi, etc.: Although
you may be able to install Phabricator on specialized hardware, it is unlikely to work
well and will be difficult for us to support. Strongly consider using a normal computer
instead.
A Toaster, Car, Firearm, Thermostat, etc.: Yes, many modern devices now have
embedded computing capability. We live in interesting times. However, you should not
install Phabricator on these devices. Instead, install it on a normal computer.

ANALYSIS
1. Did the board display design reflect the likes/interests of its target audience to
understand? Why? Why not?
Yes, because it is about Philippine History.
2. Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand?
Why? Why not?
Yes it is clear, because it is written in Filipino

3. What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective? Why?
Why not?
I think it is informative, because the pictures that are posted there are some of our
Heroes and important happenings in the Philippines
4. What suggestions can you make?
I suggest that change the font size is very small, some students can’t read it very
well.

Note: Please create your own display layout.
REFLECTIONS
1. Name at least 5 skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with effective
board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
Choose of Pictures, Color, Font Style and Size, Title, Place where it should be
placed.
2. Which of the skills do you already have? Recall your past experiences in making
board displays. How do you practice these skills?

How?
12
All, I don’t have any experience in making bulletin board but as I observed this 5
skills are applied to catch the attention of the readers.
3. Which skills do you still need to develop? Reflect on how you can improve on or
acquire these skills.
Nothing. Hahahahahahaha

REFLECTIONS
Put yourself in the place of the teacher. What would you do similarity and what would you
do differently if you will teach the same lesson to the same group of students? Why?

WEBSITE VISIT ACTIVITY FORM
Name of Author: Tony R. Kuphaldt (he is the author of the textbook used on-site)
Name of Site: All About Circuits
Posting or Revision
Date: Not mentioned on the site
Organization
represented: All About Circuits published through Design Science License
Date of Access: October 15, 2011
URL: http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_1/chpt_5/1.html
Brief Description of the
material in the website:
The above URL is just a portion of a series of textbooks on electricity and
electronics that they have published online. In this part, it gives a bird’s eye view
of the contrasting characteristics of a series circuit and a parallel circuit.
Evaluation of the
Website:
STRENGTHS
It is very informative and it really gives the
reader a good head start about the
similarities and differences between the two
circuits.
WEAKNESSES
Since it is part of an online
textbook, it assumes that the
reader is familiar with the terms
being used by the author.
