(real name Czesława Cieślak) was born June 10, 1938 in Liège, Belgium, to Polish emigrants. She is a Polish and international singer and actress.

In her best years Violetta Villas was a mezzo-soprano whose voice had an extraordinary register and a very wide range of vocal colour. It covered four octaves from the tenor middle D3 to the soprano E7. Villas' best range was from C4 to C6. In her songs she showed a remarkable ability for naturally assimilative styles, and for eliciting a multiplicity of voices. Villas could perform at times as a tenor, alto, mezzo-soprano, and soprano, a unique attribute amongst singers of any gender, in the fields of both classical and popular music.

If we translate the name of this band we will see that it means only „jam” but it isn’t so sweet in the end. Dżem plays blues and rock which perfectly fits to the lifestyle of the most important leader of this band through it’s lifetime. Ryszard Rydiel- the first singer in this band- was always singing about his approach to life, he played concerts, went with friends to club, drank some beer and that’s all about it. Rysiek had a lot of problems with cops and drugs, he was addiced to heroin. Anyway, he warned others from taking drugs. In 1994 the leader of „Dżem” was on detoxication but it didn’t bring any results and his heart just stopped beating. Most of Dżem’s fans think that this band lost a lot because of Ryszard’s death. In the song that we can hear now author is singing about people „full of virtues” who are judging his life.

The band’s team has changed a lot but there are two artits who have seen Dżem’s first steps. The most well known songs are :

„Czerwony jak cegła”, „Sen o Wiktorii” , „Mała

aleja róż” and „Whisky”, which we are listening to now.

Adam Ostrowski – better known as O.S.T.R. is one of the most famous Polish rapers and freestylers in the world. Before his hip-hop tournee started, he had been playing the violin. Graduated violin from the Music Academy in Łódź, he launched his first album in 2001 named ‘Masz to jak w banku’ translated ‘It’s a dead cert’ so it could be the promise that the new albums would be better than the older one. Today Ostry has 10 full and legal albums on scorecard. He also got 3 gold records on albums ‘Holly Łódź’, ‘Ja tu tylko sprzątam’ and ‘O.c.b.’. In the song we’re listening to now Adam is talking about his love to his mother and wants to show her that better days are

coming.
