    uesday evening at theMinnedosa Community Con erence Centre. Uponentrance to the hall guestscould view the acilitys de-sign layout, with up-scaledarchitectural drawings atthe back o the room. Pre-senters or the eveningincluded MREC Co-chair,Jon Lewis; Mayor, Ray Orr;Minnedosa EDO, SandraIngenmey; MREC Co-chairand Design Chair, ScottBurgess; Project Manager,Guenter Schaub o owerEngineering; President o Bockstael Construction,Larry Bockstael; and Corey Greenham o LM Architec-ture.Lewis began the eve-

    ning by expressing hispleasure o seeing how many people had shownan interest in the project.Te more eedback weget rom public orums likethis the better of every-one is, he said. He thenproceeded to give a brie update on what has beendone since the last publicmeeting in June. Te ar-chitectural and engineer-ing drawings, he said, areabout 70% complete, while

    the interior design needsto be nished. Fundrais-ing is ongoing. Last sum-mer, various user-groups,including soccer, base-ball and rugby worked atevents and these unds will eventually be directedback to them.

    Design Chair, ScottBurgess provided a brie rationale or the grouppursuing two sheets o ice,as opposed to one, andEDO Sandra Ingenmey de-scribed work being doneto secure sponsorships, which will ocus on ofer-

    ing sponsors (clients) val-ue or their patronage.

    Project Consul-tant, Guenter Schaub,is pleased that the proj-ect is still on track.

    M S recently announced the imminent arrival o bre-optic services to its residential customersin Minnedosa. In 2010, M S announced its plans toinvest $125 million in a ve year program to expand anew technology called Fibre o the Home. M S callstheir version o Fibre o the Home FION (Fibre-opticNetwork) and has ocused on putting it in 25 communi-ties outside o Winnipeg, Brandon and Portage - whoalready have DSL technology. Five communities havereceived the technology so ar, beginning with Selkirk in 2010/11.M S construction crews will arrive in Minnedosa

    this summer to begin installing these new bre-opticcables. In our community, about 80% o the homes areserved with arial cables and the other 20% are servicedby underground cables that will need to be excavated.Fibre o the Home is the next generation o tech-

    nology. Once service is available and customers or-der a new service M S will run a bre-optic cable di-rectly into the customers home and only once insidethe home is the signal converted rom bre-optics intophone, television or Internet signals.I you dont take a new service, nothing changes,assured M S President, Kelvin Shepherd.     on your existing telephone cable. Regular pricing willremain standard across communities, with the excep-tion o occasional promotional ofers.FION technology will allow M S to of er its new

    Ultimate V service to customers in Minnedosa. M SUltimate V is ofered in Winnipeg, Portage Brandonand now Selkirk, Dauphin and Steinbach. An InternetProtocol (IP) V service, it has hundreds o V chan-nels to choose rom, over 100 HD channels, Video OnDemand in Standard and HD ormats, Personal VideoRecorder (PVR) and an advanced Interactive ProgramGuide customers can use to view a two-week schedule,plan recordings, etc.
