The modular design of the Siemens lPSswitchboard allows the user to integrateelectrical distribution equipment, powermonitoring and environmental controlsthat typically mount in multipleenclosures into one switchboard line-up.Users have the freedom to configure anarrangement that best fits their individualneeds. Optional factory installedinterconnection wiring is available tofurther reduce installation time.

lPS switchboards are built to UL 891 andNEMA PB-2 standards. Standard heightof lPS sections is 90 inches. Optionalheight of 70 inches is available. Minimumdepth of lPS switchboards is 13.75inches. Optional depths of 20, 28 and 38

inches are available. Some componentsdictate the use of optional depths.

Typical lPS switchboards consist ofone service section and one or moredistribution sections that are cableconnected. However, lPS switchboards are alsoavailable with through bus and pullsections. lPS switchboards will

accommodate systems up to 4000amperes. 600V ac maximum in 1-phase 3-wire, 3-phase 3-wire, or 3-phase 4-wireconfigurations.

All components can be built into standard NEMA Type 1 indoorenclosures, or optional NEMA Type 3Routdoor construction.

Bus bars are available in standard tin-finished aluminum or optional silver-finished copper. Standard bus issized on the basis of heat rise criteria, inaccordance with UL 891. All bus bars aresized to limit heat rise to 65ºC above amaximum ambient temperature of 40ºC.

As an option, conductor material can besized according to density limits, basedon bus material. The applicable limits are:

Copper — 1000 amperes sq. in.

Aluminum — 750 amperes sq. in.

Screw type mechanical connectors (lugs)are provided as standard equipment onall devices. However, compressionconnectors are available as an option.

Rear Connected SwitchboardsType RCS General


Siemens RCS switchboards differ fromthe front connected (Type SB1, SB2,SB3) design primarily in the distributionsections. In the distribution section thebranch feeders are individually mounted.Because of this method of mounting,access to the outgoing cable terminalsmust be from the rear of the unit. Busbar extensions from the feeder devicesare run to the rear of the RCS sectionstopping before the conduit area foreasy access and cable connection. An optional cable management system

can be requested to secure the outgoingcables. The front and rear of all sectionsalign and are designed for mountingaway from the wall. RCS switchboardwill accommodate requirements up to6000 ampere and 600 volts. The mainbus can be specified for 400 to 6000ampere rating. Main, tie and branchdevices are available in amperage ratingsup to 6000 amps. RCS switchboards canbe indoor (NEMA 1) or outdoor (NEMA3R) construction.

RCS switch boards utilize Type WLinsulated case and/or low voltage powercircuit breakers with drawout mountings.Features and benefits include highbreaker density, 100kA standard shortcircuit bus bracing and three levels ofhorizontal bus. Options include insulated/isolated bus, Dynamic Arc Flash Sentry,ModBus Communication and intelligentpower monitoring.

Multi-Metering Switchboards Type SMM General



Completely engineered and assembled,Siemens SMM commercial meteringswitchboards require minimal fieldassembly. They are UL listed and labeledand meet all EUSERC standards.
