VOL. 30 NO. 08 February 26, 2020 2020 Theme: That all may see Jesus. Our annual Ladies Day will be this Saturday, February 29th Our Coordinators have been busy for a year planning a very special morning for you and your guests. Our speakers have prepared inspirational thoughts to share with you and encourage you. Schedule for the morning is as follows: Registration begins at 8:30 AM. Program will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. The lessons will be presented in English and Spanish. Brunch will be served following the lessons. Child Care is provided. If you have any questions, please see Tommie Hannah, Dodie Mitchum, Stacey Riggs, or Kelley Loop. THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT FAMILY DAY! Family Day is always an encouraging day to be together, and thank you so much to everyone who invited, aended, encouraged, cooked, set-up, cleaned-up, and helped make it a great day of worshiping together. We had 578 souls gathered for our 10am worship, and if Im reading our records correctly, thats ed for the 5 th largest assembly weve ever had at Great Oaks. We were thankful to have so many visi- tors, and I hope they were encouraged in their faith by being with us. The potluck lunch was great also; we appreciate everyone who had a part in making that a good me to visit with each other. I enjoyed the day, and I hope you did also – well do it all again next year! CAN YOU HELP LOCK UP THE BUILDING? We sll need volunteers to help us turn off the lights and make sure the doors are shut aſter our assemblies. Wesley Hubbard and Jerry Nabors do so much around our building, and we dont want to make them lock up every week in addion to what they already do! Can you commit to staying around later for a month to help with this? Please sign the list on the board, or let us know if you have any quesons about what the role entails. YOUNG MEN LEADING WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY NIGHT – I hope you can be with us this coming Sunday night, both to worship God and to encourage our young men as they lead us in worship. These Youth Nights are always good assemblies; we appreciate our young people very much, and we are thankful for the blessing they are to our church family. As we studied from Luke 7 this past Sunday morning: lets show a true love for God this week, and lets keep our eyes open for souls to encourage! We will see you Sunday, ready for another great Lords Day togetherFrom Tim… Ladies Day 2020 “A Diamond In The Rough”

THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT FAMILY DAY! Family Day is always an encouraging day to be together, and thank you so much to everyone who invited, attended, encouraged, cooked, set-up, cleaned-up, and helped make it a great day of worshiping together.

We had 578 souls gathered for our 10am worship, and if I’m reading our records correctly, that’s tied for the 5th largest assembly we’ve ever had at Great Oaks. We were thankful to have so many visi-tors, and I hope they were encouraged in their faith by being with us. The potluck lunch was great also; we appreciate everyone who had a part in making that a good time to visit with each other. I enjoyed the day, and I hope you did also – we’ll do it all again next year! CAN YOU HELP LOCK UP THE BUILDING? We still need volunteers to help us turn off the lights and make sure the doors are shut after our assemblies. Wesley Hubbard and Jerry Nabors do so much around our building, and we don’t want to make them lock up every week in addition to what they already do! Can you commit to staying around later for a month to help with this? Please sign the list on the board, or let us know if you have any questions about what the role entails. YOUNG MEN LEADING WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY NIGHT – I hope you can be with us this coming Sunday night, both to worship God and to encourage our young men as they lead us in worship. Marriage Class coming in the Spring!

Each spring we have a stronger-marriages encouragement – either a seminar or a class – and this year is our “class” year, so make plans to join us for a Marriage Class on Wednesday nights in March, April, and May (starting March 4.)

Elders/Deacons/Ministers Retreat March 6 & 7 @ Great Oaks Friday Night at 6 PM (meal provided.) Speaker and games to follow. Saturday at 7 AM breakfast is provided followed by a speaker and finish around noon. All Elders/Deacons are signed up - if you cannot make it you must contact Kenny Harris.

To all Bible Bowl participates and families. Thank you so much for my cake, flowers and gift. The notes in the card made my day. I have enjoyed working with your children. We won some and lost some but the most important thing is the biblical knowledge and growth we each gained from our study. My person-al favorite book was Joshua and the one that almost caused all of us to quit was Hebrews. We hung in and got the job done. No Bible Bowl was won by me it was always the dedication of your children. You managed Saturday to do something that no one has ever done and that is to surprise me. Wanda Coats

To our Great Oaks Family: You have touched our hearts during Leslie’s illness and passing. During the time she was not feeling well, you prayed for her, sent cards and texts, brought food to us, and blessed us with your care and concern for her. Your caring for us has made the past eighteen months easier to bear because we could always feel your love and support. We knew you were holding us up in prayer from the beginning of her diagnosis, during the times she was receiving treatment and at her passing. The Great Oaks ladies who prepared and served the meal for our family and friends after the service provided an excellent meal and gave us much comfort that was needed. We appreciate all your prayers, acts of kindness and love you have shown to our family. In Christian love, Joe and Hayley Ford

Thank You...
