PurposePurpose
The purpose of the Third Ward/Treville Sustainability Plan is to contribute in making Houston a world-class city (The 22nd Century City) and to assure that the neighborhoods in the Greater Third Ward Community are well planned, beautifully designed, efficient, safe, clean, economically viable, and sustainable. We also envision that our plan and process will provide a replicable model for other urban communities in the region.

Why Planning?Why Planning?• What is a plan?
– A framework for development of an area which recognizes the physical, economic, social, political, cultural, aesthetic, and related factors of the community involved. This plan for our community will synergize the good work of The Cloth’s threads.
• Who are we planning for?– The people most affected by the decisions regarding our neighborhood should
be involved and engaged in an effective mechanism that encourages proactive and conscious participation.
• How is planning accomplished?– The community defines its needs and desires and envisions its future. A
planning process is defined by stakeholders who then work with various professionals and entities to research, document, envision, and create meaningful solutions and procedures to actualize the community’s vision.
• When do we plan?– Now is the time. This will be a framework that will ensure that we leave a
sustainable legacy for future generations of the 22nd Century City and beyond.
• Where do we plan?– Third Ward/Treville stretches from Main Street on the West, I-610 on the
south, Mykawa/Spur 5/Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Rail Road to the east, and Polk to the north. Meetings will be regularly scheduled throughout the neighborhood and beyond for certain special meetings.
