To this date and as you read this you are the sum-total of your choices, the choices of others and even the choice of God in redemption. Have you ever regretted that you said something or acted the way you did? Did you ever wish you could pull those dark words back into your mouth? Have you ever looked back and wished you could do it all over again? If I asked the man in prison that very question I would either get a head bowed down and a grunting guilt ridden yes, or I may get an angry excuse and a blaming of everything and everyone else… for him nothing changes at all. I am sure that hell is filled with regret, deep regret. Or is it always someone else’s fault? Even when its someone else - the thief, the shooter, robber or rioter, the aftermath of our choices……. our responses includes, as the scripture says is … reaping what you have sown. But sometimes it’s what others are sowing that affects you…then it’s your choice on how you will react, and we must realize that all reactions also bring a reaping. Reacting and acting all have results and will affect you, others, and your eternity. If reaping what you sow is so (and I fully believe it is) then the issue is, what are you sowing? Choices, reactions, and actions all have impact for us, for others and maybe for society as a whole. If you choose to burn down a business or beat a bystander then you must be prepared to …..reap the consequences. The person who chooses sin should know or soon realizes… the wages therefore is brings harm and even death (and that one is for all of us/see Romans ch. 3-6) and all sin-evil actions have impact on some level. There is an old example given us and we would do well to heed its teaching.
