From the School,
Congratulations to the 2020 Primary School Captains, Sienna Blacker and Joanna O'Reilly. Well done to all the students who nominated and spoke at Friday's assembly. Everyone did a fantastic job and the voting was very close.Welcome to Ms Bell who is our Assistant Principal for the remainder of the year whilst Mrs Tyack takes a well-earned break. We wish Mrs Tyack all the best on the impending arrival of her new baby and we can’t wait to meet her new bundle of joy.Information around Selective High School applications for Year 7 2021 can be found in the front office. If you wish your child to receive this information please contact the school.Just a reminder to anyone who visits the school to please make sure you go through the front office as this is a WHS issue and needs to be abided by. I have noticed some people are coming in to either pick up students or to drop off things to students and are not following protocol, these guidelines are in place for the safety of everyone. Tonight, the P&C will be holding their Annual General Meeting starting at 7pm. I encourage all parents and community members to attend. A huge thankyou to our active P&C who donated our new jersey's. The students looked fantastic at the Lower Lachlan Swimming Carnival. This year the school will be celebrating 100 years and the P&C will be an integral part of these celebrations. Remember many hands make light work! This Wednesday the NRL will be holding an Inspire Blitz at the school for all students. There will be a whole school assembly held in the 3-6 room with representatives from the NRL presenting a talk. I am sure this will be a very informative assembly for our students. This week we have 3 boys attending the AFL Western Trials in West Wyalong. Thank you to Ungarie Central School for allowing our students to attend these trials with their team. If the boys are successful they will then trial in Parkes on the 16th March for the Western Region Team. Goodluck boys! Finally, I would like to remind everyone that my door is always open. I encourage parents and community members to come and talk to the school about any ideas, suggestions or concerns they have.

TCS Stage 5 AgricultureIt has been a busy start to the year with Stage 5 Ag students setting the task to make the TCS AG Plot
more productive and possibly profitable. Tasks include repairing the old chook shed, improving soil health of the original garden area, reclaiming unused ground, by pushing in
contours and the mounds of dirt adjoining Dundoo Street, also mixed in with some good old fashioned rock picking. The long term plan for the paddocks is to grow grazing wheat or oats and vetch and if the
season goes to plan, get some wether lambs in to grow out and sell and spraying out the plot in the spring to maintain the issue of weeds. Although on a small scale, the Ag plot will be utilised as a ‘mini
farm’, with the students given insight and participation of farm management processes.
Stage 5 students and Mr O’Brien decided the contour bank is wasted ground and needs to be
pushed in, which will enable better weed management and the ability to plant crops.
Stage 5 students lined the bottom of the chook cage with netting and sleepers, to make it fox proof. They
cleared the area of dead branches and debris.Hopefully we will have new chooks in the coming
weeks.
Working up of garden beds in preparation for planting some winter vegetables. Students have looked at soil
health and decided that it is quite sandy, with not much nutrients or structure. Next step will be to add some
manure and straw, to improve the integrity of the soil.
Students removed steel posts and sleepers around the mounds of dirt, with the hope of pushing the dirt back onto the paddock, to level off and reclaim lost ground. If any farmer close to the school has a front end loader with blade that we could borrow for a couple of days, I
would be extremely grateful.
