Year 6 Camp: Last week our year six students

travelled to Wilson’s Prom for their end of year camp.

They had a terrific time with beautiful weather. They

made comments about hiking up Mt Oberon and

finding out that Squeaky Beach really does squeak!

Thank you to the dedicated staff Mrs Houston, Mrs

Lacey, Mrs Wynne, Miss Higgins, Mr Lukas, Mrs

Strickleton (Eleanor) and parents Mr Bleakley and Ms

Scheller that went to support them. From all reports it

was once again an amazing opportunity to visit and

enjoy the many aspects of Victoria’s beautiful

environments, as well as enjoy spending quality time

with our students.

Canteen End of Term Hours: Tomorrow is the last

day for lunch orders. Monday there will not be canteen

as the children are at Ballam Park and it is Sushi Day

for those that have ordered. If your child has not

ordered a sushi meal deal, please provide them with

lunch as usual. The canteen is open for counter sales

only on Tuesday and Wednesday next week and closes

from Thursday 15th December for cleaning and stock

take. In term one the canteen will open for counter

sales from 1st February, 2017. Lunch orders will

resume from 8th February.

Library Book Returns: the library is currently

beginning its stocktake for end of year. If your child

still has a book that they have borrowed at home,

please ensure they return it promptly to assist with the

stocktake.

These certificates are awarded at

assembly each week for children who

have excelled in an academic or social

endeavour throughout the previous week.

It was lovely to see so many parents at our parent helper’s

morning tea last Monday. All staff are most grateful for

all the hard work that you put into our school, adding

more value to the educational experiences for your

children.

I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the

wonderful job our local school crossing supervisors do.

They safely escort all of our students across the road, both

in the morning and in the afternoon, and they do this with

a smile every day. A special mention to Val, who

supervises our Summit Road crossing. She has been

helping students cross the road for quite a number of

years now, and is probably up to her 3rd generation of

Overport students. ‘Thank you Val’. Unfortunately due to

an oversight, our crossing supervisors were not at our

morning tea on Monday, but the school will certainly be

recognising their efforts with a little ‘treat’.

Another huge thank you to all those who have donated

food items to support Frankston Emergency Relief

Christmas Hamper appeal. We have quite a collection of

food, which is being collected tomorrow, then distributed

to families in need within our community. I know that

these will be greatly appreciated. If you have any last

minute donations, please send them directly to the

conference room first thing in the morning.

2017 payment and interview notices have now all been

sent home. The office will be accepting payments up until

next Friday 16th December. To make a booking for a

beginning of year parent meeting with your child’s

teacher, go to www.schoolinterviews.com.au The

booking code for next year’s Year 1 to 6 classes is dh3xs.

Prep classes have a separate booking code – fsryy.

Our final assembly for the year will be on Tuesday 20th

December at 9.10am. parents are most welcome to stay

basketball court.

Our year 4 students are currently having a great time

at The Briars, and are due back tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight our year 3’s are having a real adventure –
