Gold Rush in Terrey Hills ! Last Thursday you could have mistaken Terrey Hills to have slipped back in time to the 1850's. The rumour that gold had been found in the Hills had spread and so too had drive and curiosity to find it.

As a culmination activity to Stage 3's Early Australia, students dressed in colonial attire and were also given the identity of an early settler that they had to research. Interesting information was discovered (along with a lot of gold) about why people immigrated to Australia and unfortunately, also petty crimes that people committed to be sentenced to the colony in the first place. Each student had to create a map of the school and also a Gold License that had to be on their person at all times throughout the day or else face the harsh penalties (picking up rubbish, last to leave etc)

Other activities the students participated in during the day included making damper, designing a 'Wanted Poster' and playing traditional games from the colonial times.

Well done on a highly enjoyable and rewarding day.

Application for year 5 entry to an opportunity class Notes went home today to all year 4 students regarding applications for entry into a year 5 opportunity class. Applications are done online only between 30 April and 17 May 2019.

Kindy and Year 1 Easter Hat Parade – Friday 12th April This is a reminder for all Kindergarten and year 1 students to please bring in some craft items to make an Easter hat tomorrow. Year 6 and year 2 will be helping the Kindergarten and year 1 students make their hats for the parade on Friday.

Everyone is welcome to come along and see the parade at 2pm on Friday 12th in the hall.

Library The Grandfriends Book Fair is in the hall tomorrow morning from 8.30 to 11.30am. There are lots of books to buy as well as some books to donate to the library for $5 and $10.

The library needs some new books covered at home. All materials are supplied. Paperback books are covered with 'contact' adhesive plastic (no bubbles or creases). Hardcover books are covered using a roll of firm plastic and sticky tape. If you would like to help, please contact Sue Crawford in the library.
