Welcome back to Term Three! We welcome a number of new families to our school this term and hope you
settle in well to our school community.
Staff Development Day – July 18
The staff attended an excellent day of professional learning with our joint Toongabbie Learning Community
(TLC) at Pendle Hill High School. Colin James was the presenter and he presented a range of practical advice
and theory on inspiring crucial conversations around culture and change. He challenged us in thinking through
better ways to develop intelligent leadership, change and collaboration in an environment that is always
changing.
Thank you
Thank you to P&C personnel who ran the Sausage Sizzle and Year 6 who served customers for the cake stall
on our Election Day on July 2.
Particular thanks to the P&C executive and Sausage Sizzle helpers who
were marvellous on the BBQ tongs serving voters on the day.
Thank you also to Mrs Eastwood, Mr Hobor and the following students who
gave up their time for the school on the cake stall: Jessica, Dinura,

Opportunity Class Placement Test 2016
The Opportunity Class Placement test will take place on Wednesday 27th July 9.00am – 11.15am at
Greystanes High School. Parents would have received a letter advising them about the test centre their child
will be attending as well as a document titled Test information for Parents and students.
Following the test parents are required to take their child to Pendle Hill High School for our school Athletics
Carnival. On arrival students are to report to Ms Di Chio to have their name marked off.
Peer Support News
Week 2 – Valuing Each Other
We are commencing our Peer Support lessons this week. The whole school
participates in Peer Support for 30 minutes each week. Two Peer leaders
facilitate a small group of 8-10 students from Kindergarten to Year 4, who
work together through a number of structured activities. Each teacher will
supervise 2-3 groups in their classroom. We are working on a module called
Promoting Harmony helping us define individual and community values, build relationships and improve decision
making skills. The module runs for 8 sessions. Our first session enables the children to get to know everyone in
their group, agreeing on how they will work together and interact cooperatively with others. They will also begin
to think about what is a value and something they value in themselves. We recommend you talk to your children
about Peer Support every week, as it will help to reinforce the concepts learned in each session.
Week 3 – Showing You Care
During Peer Support this week the children will look at the notion that what they
choose to spend their time on often reflects the values they have. The activities will
also assist them in identifying ways they care for themselves and others, developing
their understanding that you are caring when you notice the feelings and needs of
yourself and others.
During the week encourage your child to demonstrate they are caring by doing something helpful or displaying
kindness around the home.

3M Learning in Term 2
3M had to complete a creative project on an early explorer Captain James Cook. The children put a lot of hard
work into their project. Here are some examples.
Arya made the model of the Endeavour.
