From the Pastor’s Study

Have you ever noticed how much our

world works to find rest? So many people

are tired and looking for rest. Whether it

is a stressful lifestyle or a physical prob-

lem that hinders rest, many people strug-

gle to get a full night’s rest. The problem

has become so widespread that a new

industry has emerged, the sleep industry.

There are physicians who specialize in

sleep disorders, medications, machines,

and other tools that are now available to

help find rest. Although I believe there

are people who have a physical problem

finding rest, many people suffer because

they fail to know the Prince of peace,

Jesus.

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus gave a simple

invitation:

“Come to me all you who labor and

are heavy laden, and I will give you

rest. Take My yoke upon you, and

learn from Me, for I am gentle and

lowly in heart, and you will find rest

for your souls. For My yoke is easy

and My burden is light.”

The simple invitation to those who are

stressed and in need of rest is: Come,

Take, Learn, and Find. Come to Jesus

who is the source of peace. Take on His

concerns (yoke). Learn from His exam-

ple. And Find rest (peace) for your soul.

Soul peace is the same peace that the

Apostle Paul describes in Philippians 4:7:

“…the peace of God, which surpass-

es all understanding, will guard your

hearts and minds through Christ

Jesus.”

That kind of peace, the peace that calms

the storms in our souls, is only found in

Jesus. It comes from spending intimate

time alone with Him in prayer. It comes

when we give Him our concerns and take

on His. Are you searching for peace,

calm from the storm, or rest for your

soul? Are you seeking a break from the

struggles and worries of this life? The

source of finding peace is not changing

your circumstances; it’s changing your

focus. When you find Jesus, you will find

peace!

I look forward to finding Jesus with you

this Sunday as we gather together to study

God’s word and worship Him together!

To God Be the Glory!

Bro. Fred

Education News We will be doing a children’s ministry outing to go

and see the movie Minions on Tuesday July 14th. I do not

have all of the details yet because the movie is not released

until this weekend. I will pass further details along on

Sunday morning after I can get some more information. I

wanted to go ahead and let you know about the outing and

the date so you can plan accordingly. We will likely have

one other children’s ministry summer event before school

starts back and I will let you know about that a little later.

In Christ,

Judson
