From the Pastor’s Desk
Can it be that Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away? We all know what that means: Christmas and 2014 are not far
behind!
Psalm 106:1 says, “Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His loving kindness is everlasting!” You
and I have much to give thanks to the Lord for!
Despite the difficulties and heartaches of life, we have so many things to say, “Thank You!” for to our faithful God!
Indeed, we should even give thanks for the difficulties and heartaches; for it is in and through these that our faith is
strengthened as we experience the power, mercy and love of God. It is through these times that we become more like
Jesus!
No matter what is going on in our lives, we should continue to thank our faithful God for the love, grace and mercy that
caused Him to send His only begotten Son Jesus to come to this earth for the specific purpose of dying on the cross to
pay for our sins and rising from the dead on the third day and then giving us eternal life as we trust in Him! We should
continue to thank Him and praise Him for all of His blessings to us as individuals, as families, as a church family. We
should continue to thank Him for His provision, His protection, His guidance, His truth! So many things to thank and
praise Him for!
My prayer for each of us is that this Thanksgiving is a bit more than just family gatherings, turkey and potatoes, and
football. My prayer is that it is also a time of reflecting upon the faithfulness of our God...and thanking Him for it!

“OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD!”
We are blessed to be involved again this year - as we have been for a number of years! - with “OperationChristmas Child”, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse (www.sarnaritanspurse.org). Since 1993, the Samaritan’sPurse has collected and delivered more than 100 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 100countries. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Operation Christmas Child expects to collect another 9.8 millionshoebox gifts in 2013.
Individuals, families and groups fill empty shoeboxes with gifts of toys, school supplies, hygiene items andnotes of encouragement. During National Collection Week, Nov. 18-25, 2013, Samaritan’s Purse willcollect the gift-filled shoeboxes at more than 3,500 drop-off sites in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. GraceBible Church is one of those drop-off sites. At the processing centers (see below), a Gospel pamphlet, in thelanguage of the child who will receive the shoebox, is placed in each box.
After the boxes are prepared for overseas shipment at eight major processing centers across the UnitedStates - Atlanta; Boone, N.C.; Charlotte; Dallas; Denver; Honolulu; Minneapolis; and Orange County, Calif. -
Samaritan’s Purse and its partners will deliver the gifts to children in more than 100 countries on sixcontinents.
NOTE: Donors ($7 per shoebox) can find out the country where their shoebox gifts are delivered by usingthe donation form found at samaritanspurse.org. Click on “Support” and “Follow Your Box”.
Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are collected in the United States, Australia, Austria, Canada,Finland, Germany, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
More than 500,000 volunteers worldwide, with over 100,000 of those in the United States, are involved incollecting, shipping and distributing shoebox gifts.
So, Grace Bible sisters and brothers in Christ, let’s get involved! Empty shoeboxes can be found in thefoyer of our church. Please read the instructions prior to packing a shoebox. “Completed” shoeboxes are dueat the church no later than Sunday, Nov. 24, Noon. Last year, folks from our church packed 89 shoeboxesfull of goodies for children around the world. Lets’ see if we can top ]J this year! We in America have somuch... the children of the world have so little. Let’s help them have a little nicer Christmas. Let’s help themhear about Jesus Christ!
Thanks to everyone who helped with the Helfenbeins’ Halloween Ministry!

YOU MAY NOT KNOWTHAT....
1. Gallup was recently chosen as the “Most Patriotic Small Town in America” by Rand McNally, the largest map
publication in the nation! The award was given based on submissions to Rand McNally by folks in the Gallup area. A
front-page article in the October 15 -31, 2013 issue of the “Gallup City Limits” describes the process and the award. It’s
wonderful for our great town to be recognized in this positive way!
2. As of October 13, 2013, a new law went into effect in Gallup that states that all minors must wear a helmet while
bicycling in Gallup. The penalty for violating the ordinance is a $100 fine for the first offense, $200 for a second, $300 for
a third. The ordinance also states that the Gallup Police Department can confiscate the bicycle of the person violating
the ordinance. We can’t wait to see the Police fine and confiscate the bicycle of some little 9 year old girl riding her bike
around without a helmet on!

A Thanksgiving Day Prayer
Lord, so often times, as any other dayWhen we sit down to our meal andpray
We hurry along and makefast the blessingThanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing
Were slaves to the olfactory overloadWe must rush our prayer before the food gets cold
But Lord, I’d like to take afew minute moreTo really give thanks to what I’m thankfulfor
For my family, my health, a nice soft bedMy friends, myfreedom, a roofover my head
I’m thankful right now to be surrounded by thoseWhose lives touch me more than they’ll ever possibly know
Thankful Lord, that You ve blessed me beyond measureThankful that in my heart lives life ‘s’ greatest treasure
That You, dear Jesus, reside in that placeAnd I’m ever so gratefulfor Your unending grace
So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You’ve providedAnd bless each and every person invited
Amen!
