KEEPING THE TOWN OF CLAREMONT COMMUNITY INFORMED | JANUARY 2014 talk town CLAREMONT FROM THE MAYOR’S DESK We have literally hit the ground running in 2014 with the recent delivery of the Get into the Claremont Life Summer Autumn Event Guide to all Town of Claremont residents. The guide presents over 20 exciting community events to be held in Claremont over the next few months. If you haven’t recevied your guide, please contact us or visit our website for upcoming event details. Bigger music festivals and concerts held at the Claremont Showground through the Royal Agricultural Society impact the Town’s community, and we continue to manage this situation as best we can through providing traffic management and ranger presence. We are aware that the next concert will be held on Sunday 2 February, and I have written to the Minister for Environment to express our disappointment of the current processes and have requested that the impact of noise levels and finishing times should be considered. On the other side of town, work on the Claremont Municipal Chambers & Administration continues. The careful reconstruction of the heritage section of the building has already commenced; the roof frame is complete and work has also begun on the new section with the 1st floor pad to be completed soon. I am pleased to report that the project is on track for completion later in the year. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and safe 2014. FROM THE MAYOR’S DESK We have literally hit the ground running in 2014 with the recent delivery of the Get into the Claremont Life Summer Autumn Event Guide to all Town of Claremont residents.

Waste and Recycling Guide 2014 Town of Claremont

Waste & Recycling Guide 2014The Town’s 2014 Waste and Recycling Guide has now been distributed to every household in the Town. This informative guide details your fortnightly recycling weeks; collection days for specific areas; what you can deposit in your recycling bin; and verge collection areas and dates.

If you haven’t received your guide, please contact us or visit our website.

TIP: Your fruit and vegetable scraps can make great compost for your garden and help to reduce land fill

Rowe Park Upgrade

The Town will be further enhancing Rowe Park with the installation of a new children’s playground. Consultation with users of the Park assisted the Town with its selection of a playground that should appeal to children of all ages, encouraging challenge, exploration and creativity. The playground conforms to Australian Safety Standards, providing the perfect play environment for every child.

This additional equipment complements other new facilities at the site including a car park, basketball hoop and refurbishment of the tennis court surfaces. Installation of the playground will begin 28 February, following removal of the old playground the week prior.

Any queries regarding the Rowe Park Upgrade can be directed to [email protected]

Wheels & Feet Share this StreetIn a continued effort to promote the concept of a shared space on Bay View Terrace where vehicle speeds are low and allow free pedestrian flow and a safe street environment, the Town has recently undertaken vehicle speed research. At various times throughout December and early January, a hand held radar gun has recorded the speeds of vehicles on the Terrace. The data is currently being reviewed and will be submitted to Main Roads WA for the Terrace to be officially recognised as a shared zone, enabling the current 10km/hr zone to remain and the installation of official ‘Shared Zone’ signs.

Please do not put bulk

waste out until weekend

before collection.
